Trench Warfare for sure.
The head shot was a 5 MIN MAJOR...Stripes didn't see it that way.
2-2 with 20 miles to go!

TSN announcers weren't too bad. But, to me, they didn't seem to have the same excitement put into their broadcast as George and Barry did in their audiocasts all week.
Anyways, congratulations to Bentley.

Hope the game was better in person than it looked on tv . IMO i didn,t see a decent goal the hole game . The Thunder appeared to to be a better club but a lack of finish seemed to be their downfall

The Army was hammered with PK time all afternoon. Some of it was warranted. We knew we'd need to deliver a gigantic PK to get the old girl loaded on the bus. Penalty killing is part & parcel with (twice) winning Allan Cups...on the road!!! The Gens are the first road team to beat a host team, in the finals, in 16 years. Eight tries! Two of which were ours.

what was attendance for the Final? I generally dislike rinks with seating on only one side, but it looked like Steinbach has a decent capacity.

I remember having to hold my spot along the glass in 09' for fear of losing it to the next row of people behind me. Standing room wasn't as squeezed this time around.

Finally completed my multi-stop homeward journey.
First morning back...I watched the TSN broadcast.
I think...as is always the case...TV doesn't capture live game intensity. One thing TV does do though...is remove me from the eye of the storm and allow me to realize some of what I THOUGHT I saw...wasn't quite that way. For example, the hit from behind on Thurston, looked way worse at first glance.
Also affirms what we saw all week...The Gens "D" never stop working & even when the game is played tightly with little room for error...we had multiple defence men doing work all over the rink. SEPTs' group of "D" is very positionally sound...but...other than Crowley...not much offensive help from them.
Both goalies were brilliant. Handling crazy bounces and making game management plays/decisions right to the bitter end.
Tyler Dittmer was a dangling little wizard all week and I see even more of his game while sitting in my recliner this morning. The Grand Master seemed to fade as the week went on. He was never discouraged but he wasn't nearly as deft as he was in Clarenville or Lloydminster.
Teegan Moore had a huge workload...centering Rigby & Stefanishion...that's a line expected to produce goals...but...Moore is also heavily counted on for PK. Moore put on a lot of miles.
Jesse Todd could've easily been an Tournament All Star. He scored big goals all week. Played his best hockey of the season in Steinbach. His game tying goal, late in the 1rst period of the finals, was paramount.

I do not think the TSN cameras do the speed or professionalism of the game credit because the whole game, pretty much, is shot through the safety net...really detracts from the broadcast, IMO.

I thought watching the game on TV made the game look slow and sloppy. Alot of bouncing pucks and not enough crisp passing. I'm sure the game was alot better In person. The reason it looked slow was most of us probably compare it to watching nhl games on tv and it is slow compared to the show

I thought watching the game on TV made the game look slow and sloppy. Alot of bouncing pucks and not enough crisp passing. I'm sure the game was alot better In person. The reason it looked slow was most of us probably compare it to watching nhl games on tv and it is slow compared to the show The LIVE view seemed fast & VERY physical. The nasty bounces were also apparent and I noted this a few times during the week. High level hockey in a drastically compromised arena dimension is something were (thankfully) becoming much less familiar with in recent years. Personally, I feel rink dimensions for the Allan Cup should NO LONGER get ignored as a consideration when awarding HOST rights. I do NOT believe either of the MB teams gained ANY deliberate advantage over any of the other 4 AC 'teams because of "prior knowledge" of this important detail. I simply insist SR AAA hockey should be played on an NHL sized rink. The 2009 Finals, actually, featured a shorthanded goal...against SEPT...and I am sure that goal happened because of a miniature neutral zone. I saw plenty of confusion & affect from the same factor again last week and it factored both for & against ALL teams while eating away at SEVERAL players "comfort level". In the end...puck carrying defencemen...able to individually rush the puck up the mini-rink became monumentally important. To a point...it was fun to watch guys like...Nathan Deck, Donny Morrison, Derek Keller, Grame Craig, Dane Crowley and Blanchard making their best Bobby Orr impressions. Mark my words...I saw some slick transporters. Thing is...we also saw routine breakouts made impossible because there is ZERO neutral zone safety if/when springing the puck up the rink with passing. Even the most accurate & smart passers in the tourney...guys like Yake, Schultz, Bonni, Gallant and Yetman were handcuffed. Turnovers and dangerous collisions were a mainstay all week. The games in Steinbach turned into basketball on ice. Half court battles which were unique tests to be sure...but...let's not do it again.
