Hey Wade...wondering on your thoughts on Sloan. I think he will be little step above Alex Henry that we had last year. Just wondering g were his stamina will be..I guess it would depend on where the Cataracts finish in the round Robin. To many back to back games could be a down fall for him..and he may show up in great shape. Henry was good...but he looked a bit winded in the semi final game.

I can't even quite figure out how the Cats' knew about him. I'm guessing Stefanishion had some hand in making the connection. On Alex Henry last year in Steinbach: He was a solid defensive player. One of the best in the tournament, in that regard. If he was tired near the end of the week...he wasn't the only one. And it didn't help matters that GFW's big stud, Luke Gallant, missed most of the tournament and Henry was force fed extra ice time to make up the difference.

Fair assessment. Looking forward to the 2017 edition..here's hoping the 4th time is the charm for us. I'm hoping all the top teams are there..as it makes for a great week of hockey.

I'll add something regarding Henry: Prior to GFW's SF game against SEPT, I was lounging in the area where the Cats' were going through pre-game stretching and I definitely picked up on a few of the "game faces". That was a team that had an impressive aura and although Alex Henry was a "pick-up" he carried himself like a 10 year member of the squad. Commendable, on his part. Some other "hired guns" are less deserving of praise...but...they're not all just in it for the $$$ & free trip.

I agree..we have been very successful in recruiting players that are there to win and have had a team first attitude. Obviously they like there money...as anyone would...but we also sign players who are there to win...there are some good players in our league who would not be a fit on our team..therefore they won't be added...chemistry is a big thing in sports and hockey in particular. That is what I see in the Generals of Lacombe.

Whitby quietly signs ex NHLer D Bryan Muir who played yesterday with a goal and an assist. He played for the Blast in 2010-2011 I believe for their playoff run.
Should be a good addition for them to level the playing field.

The Cataracts will be off the ice for close to 6 weeks before there 1st game of the finals on March 4th...hopefully they don't come out to rusty. They need to be playing right up to the weekend prior to the Allan Cup, to stay in game shape.

They need to be playing right up to the weekend prior to the Allan Cup, to stay in game shape. Dealing with sporadic schedules is becoming an increasingly common challenge for SR AAA teams. As fewer high end teams commit to the Allan Cup...it means the few who do...find less & less competition. This huge gap in the Cats' schedule does bring more sense into the signings of Stefanishion & Sloan. If your gonna be rusty no matter what...you might as well be skilled & rusty.

I dont know if its true or not, but im thinking it could be Liam Heelis. Played at Acadia for 4 years and then went to McGill for his 5th of eligibility.

NFLD constantly buy ACH players, Wade...not the other way around. Hulit and Bragg were not signed away from NFLD...they returned home...and one of them went back for the money, and the other jumped ship to a different ACH team for more money...Fergus is also a local ON boy...paid to be a mercenary out East for several years. you are pointing the finger int he wrong direction...you even mention 2 of your best players in AC play being bought by the Cataracts... Hello? yes...poor NFLD....LMFAO FYI...jimc.....Bragg is from Newfoundland...and players came here for various reason....The skill level is good...the fans use to fill the rinks and of course the money....but that's senior hockey here on the ROCK... we HAD one of the best senior hockey leagues in the country.
