If Henrich is such a great signing, was there a reason he wasn't in the lineup last night? It's good to sign these players but if they're not there.... I heard when Adam Henrich found out you were going to Whitby he just decided to sit that game out. According to my Dundas friends it was not much different than Stephens & Prpic not showing up for their last 2 games of the year. They also mentioned something about the number one guy Leggat who perhaps was busy doing another grand Expositor interview. Stephens and Prpic were there for the 2 games against Dundas . I heard Leggat was away for the 1st game at a ball hockey tournement in the States. Don't know where he was for the 2nd game. Perhaps doing an Expositor interview with Henrich 😎

Always excuses from the Ontario teams unless they host and players don't have to travel. Happens every year. Stoney creek was by far the weakest team in last years allan cup. There is a difference between excuses and the truth. Excuses from the Ontario teams would be coming up with reasons they lost with a full squad. But the reality of the last 10 years is that the Ontario teams have all been much stronger than the teams that they end up icing in the Allan Cup. And my Dundas Real McCoys are the biggest culprit admittedly. Year after year they dominated Ontario but large numbers of their better players did not make the trek to the Allan Cup. Very frustrating. I would bet my mortgage that if whomever wins Ontario ends up bringing a full team they will give South Prairie and Rosetown (the likely two best teams in the West) a run for their money in the Cup tournament. Stoney Creek last year, and Dundas the year before, honestly only brought about 60% of their squads. Not excuses just reality jing jang. This isn't accurate. At all. Reality is, A) All teams who go to the Allan Cup are vulnerable to "absenteeism". Matter of fact, in any given tournament you could find multiple teams missing multiple players they'd signed but either lost to injury or other commitments. Gawd...we've even seen teams WIN Allan Cups with short benches. B) The ACH/MLH has had 2-3 teams in the past 10-12 years show up with very short benches. Other years? They've brought rosters with no more absenteeism than anyone else....OR...they failed to even qualify for the tournament to begin with.

Well cowbellgal if you say Stephens & Prpic were there, I guess I'll just have to take your word for it. Maybe my Dundas friends just meant they were non existent which is kind of worse than not showing up at all. And if you haven't even bothered to find out why your Brantford #1 tender was a.w.o.l. for game 2, then maybe you would do better to look into that before worrying about Adam Henrich who as I was told was a pretty big thorn in the side of your teams final elimination game.

Game on Feb 28th: Stephens had 2 assists. Prpic scored 1 goal Plus I was at that game. Game on March 2nd: Stephens got a minor penalty for tripping and in the 3rd period was ejected from the game. Prpic was ejected from the game in the 2nd period. Pretty hard to do that if the player isn't there.
Your Dundas friends probably meant non-factor.
Only seeing the first game, I can say that was the best Game I saw Dundas play all season. Didn't see the 2nd game due to working. But am still going to the games as I was in Whitby on Saturday night.

Also, SEPT and Rosetown can't possibly both be at this year's tournament

Prpic and Stephens were definitely there for Game #2 and Leggat had a prior planned event that was scheduled months in advance.

I am not saying they had short benches. I am saying that a good chuck of the Dundas Real MCCoys best players have not attended many games in the Allan Cup. The year after we won, and the Cup was in Clarenville, Donnie even apologized publicly for not having many of his best players. Even during our "glory" era of Jooris, Kennedy, etc many players were missing. Just frustrating. Yes other teams are missing players but the Ontario squads seem to be shorter than others. Not an excuse. I just really hope whomever wins in ON brings their best this year. Will be a great Cup.

He was a horribley slow, lazy & ineffective player in every Allan Cup I saw him in. Look up Jooris' Allan Cup stats...you'll find he got into FSJ, late in the week of 2010 but he was dressed when The Army dispatched Dundas. Dundas had a full roster the year before, in Steinbach, too. Like I said before...a couple times...ya...Dundas was short-benched. But it's neither a trend nor a reason they lost. They actually got beat by SEPT, in Clarenville...and SEPT dressed ONE more player than Dundas.

My Gawd wade. Do you even read others' posts? Twice he said it was nothing to do with short benches. Anyone can dress 3 or 4 full lines. It's WHO you dress. And more importantly who stays home.

And I wasn't saying Jooris or Kennedy were missing. Those were two of the players who played in that era when Dundas made it to the Cup quite often. They were the first who came to mind.
Also wasn't even commenting on Kennedys ability.
To close this off, just take a look at the rosters that point streak keeps a record of. Then compare to the box scores that Doug keeps on the Allan Cup website. It will be a real eye opener for you to see how many top players missed games.
Lastly to even compare SEPT to Dundas is assinine. Dundas is a "team" in a league. They play all year and "hope" that if they win the championship, most of their players can then take a week off work to travel across the country. Whereas all other provinces (except Alberta) actually pick an all star team to compete in the spring for a few games. It goes something like this "Can you play a few provincial qualifying games (if even required that is) and then "can you take a week off in April". If the answer is YES, then the player joins a team. If NO you move onto the next player... until you have a full team committed.
Newfoundland is the other province with a league. But they add up to 9 players in a draft.
So the commitment is pretty different for our teams.
To the point of this thread, a player like Henrich is very hard to find. Didn't play all year but received a card to play for Dundas. So please don't compare SEPT players to Ontario players. A far different commitment!

So please don't compare SEPT players to Ontario players. A far different commitment! Dundas travelled to 3 straight Allan Cups: 2009, 10 & 11. I was at every one of those tournaments. So we're pretty much all of The Real McCoys. Those were good teams...maybe missing a guy here and there...but like I said before...nothing any different than anyone else. Then...in 2012 & 13? Nobody from the vaunted ACH could get past Kenora. The ACH hosted in ''14...and then Dundas sent a very short bench to Clarenville. And with all due respect...I'm doubtful you've got enough insight & understanding on other SR AAA teams to compare commitment levels. The reality is...a lot of top ACH players miss a lot of league games. And occasionally they miss tournaments games as well. It just seems to me a few Ontario posters here get very caught up in what some of these ACH teams appear to be "on paper". But I don't think you guys know anything about what other teams might be missing and I don't think your being objective, either.

It is MUCH easier to put together a tournament team in SEPT or Rosetown, where you may not have to play a single game to get to the AC in a given year, for example than to put together a full team participating in a league and 2-3 rounds of playoffs.

Really? And yet SEPT frequently plays the few games they do...with short benches. Don't kid yourself...they struggle to find players. As do Rosetown. Everyone does. Some teams just find ways to win while others don't.

it is MUCH easier to get (buy?) the commitment SEPT do for a week a year, rather than a full time commitment
