Hey Deebeegee , good renewing our friendship again over a game of hockey . Good to see you travelling partner looking good ! It was great catching up again. The result put the exclamation point on a good weekend but always nice to hook up with old friends.

MADE THE 5 HR ROUND TRIP TO SEE SUNDAYS GAME. DIDNT EXPECT TO SEE SEPT DOING THE OLD NEUTRAL ZONE 5 MAN TRAP. EFFECTIVE ENOUGH AS IT DID SMOTHER ROSETOWN BUT FROM MY VIEW BORING AS HELL TO WATCH. 50 PLUS MINUTES OF SCORELESS GAME. (GOALIES PLAYED THEIR PART FOR SURE) THE BETTER TEAM WON THOUGH PS..THE OTHER ALLAN CUP TEAMS BETTER GET USED TO PLAYING AGAINST THE TRAP.....REAL SOON OR ELSE!

that is how SEPT play ever year...they skate like the wind..4 lines worth, and grind and bang and wear you down...THEN THY BURY YOU WITH THEIR PP OR CAPITALIZE ON MENTAL MISTAKES.

In the past 3 allan cups I have been to there is no doubt they appeared to be the smartest and their pro / semi pro experience showed the most. They always seem to be in the right place at the right time and once you fall behind in a game it usually means big trouble. HOWEVER their age and stamina is their biggest challenge as they will be one of or if not the oldest teams out there again. Can they handle the wear of the week ? We know the goaltending is rock solid but should be an interesting week for all.

I think SEPT has two key advantages working in tandem:
They play a stringent defensive system.
And they retain an excellent goaltender.
Of the 4 returning teams...I believe SEPT is the only one able to bring back the same goaltending from last year. This is why I'm probably leaning towards renewing them as a favourite this time around...even though they're not defending an Allan Cup title.

Yes Bonni and Forsyth on defense are mid to late thirties and we all know about Yake if he plays. But key newcomers Lowry, St. Croix, Gingera and Gow are all still in their twenties as are returnees like Dittmer and Macaulay.

I think it's a 4 way race for the 4 returning teams...with the Cataracts a little deeper up front and on the back end and Stoney Creek MUCH improved...and we all know that Bentley (LACOMBE) and the SEPT are two of the top AAA teams in Canada. I am interested in what type of teams will come from N.B. They have added Mitts to there line up in Asham and Brashear...according to there local paper's anyway. Not sure what to expect really.
