The Montague webpage states that Lameque has forfeited game 6 and Montague wins the series Can you confirm NESHL_Fan I have heard the same thing but nothing official from either team representitatives or the league. Should hear something either today or tomorrow from Acadie Nouvelle (French local news paper)

Could that mean a suspension or a fine.

The league president better think this one over hard. You have the potential to either help the league and encourage more teams from PEI to possibly join the league (by being impartial) or do you implode the league, by making a decision that could kill what is left of this league at the Senior AAA level anyway. From what I've been reading the league could be dead within hours of this decision anyway. I think Montague will walk away from the league any way as the handling of this series has been an absolute joke; scheduling changes to accommodate one team but not the other; a protest over a roster issue that was well enough known it should have been discussed back in January.

It is sad, but the league abides by stupid rules that limits the quality of product put on the ice. A prime example is that each team is only allowed to dress four level 1's per game, the league considers a level 1 hockey player to be someone who played major junior or higher for more than one season; a goalie is an exception. That being said, each game during league play a team only has 4 players on the ice who has played a high level of hockey. Also, to prevent teams from having to many on their roster, each team is only allowed to carry 8 "level 1" hockey players as well.
The two representatives each have carried the maximum allowed but are not allowed to dress them all during league play.
Welcome to the NESHL hahaha

No not entirely true actually. Based on Hockey Canada rules each team must dress 60% of their current roster for an Allan Cup game. Each team is allowed to pick up 9 players plus a goalie within their league (only NB and NFLD do this) as they are not Senior AAA leagues I believe. From there each and all teams are allowed to sign 6 imports before February 10 (date could be wrong) for the tournament as well.
The bigger and more established teams don't do this because they don't have to, but us smaller provinces require to use all the help we can to compete with the likes of Lacombe, South East and Stoney Brook. Mind you these rules require having big budgets and deep pockets which most teams around here do not. We are at a disadvantage and all these rules still will not allow us, as a province of NB, produce a quality product to compete with the big dogs.

how are you, and especially NL, at any sort of a disadvantage?
no other team si allowed to draw 9 players from within its own league.
I am not certain on the 60% rule, either...oh Wade?
also, I am unfamiliar with the 6 import rule

Hockey Canada doesn't place any unique restrictions on ANY SR AAA teams.
These 2 New Brunswick teams have the same affiliate opportunities of any other SR AAA team, really.
So, they're not at any kind of disadvantage in relation to how the rulebook is laid out.
But...have they been operating as, essentially, a SR A team and now they're suddenly going to attempt an impersonation of a SR AAA team because they've been awarded the chance to HOST the AC in NB this season?
Absolutely.

no disadvantage at all...in fact, they are at a huge advantage due t th fact only 2 teams in their league declare AAA, and they can raid the rest of their league for talent...it is bush league.
Wade..I know of no 60% rule or 6 import rule...can you clarify?

Wade..I know of no 60% rule or 6 import rule...can you clarify? I think NESHL-FAN is confusing the net result of Hockeu Canadas' rules, capping the amount of affiliates. This rule applies to ALL teams.
