Wade any news about injury to Donny Lloyd in last game against blue Eagles? I haven't heard anything on his condition. Nor have I heard how many games Burke Gallimore will be suspended. By the new standard...it should be a minimum of 8 games.

Does the host team not give the incoming teams a large sum of money for their expenses? "Large" sum? No. Travelling teams get an allotment. Its been common knowledge, for a long time already, that if your travelling out of Province for an Allan Cup tournament...you'll be required to pony up $$$ to cover your expenses. I believe the amounts The Army has self-absorbed in most of the tournaments they've travelled to has exceeded the amount they were allotted By HOST fund(s). Now 2 of the last 3 tournaments placed in a distant & deslolate hole in the Sea. And The Army having travelled to every tournament since 2013...not surprising they're having to get creative to try & pay the bills. Not to worry though....next year...when they ONCE AGAIN...qualify....its only a 6 hour bus ride to Saskatoon. not too mention the money chinook teams incure during regular season travel....which some dont have

There will come a day when other SR AAA teams will decide to do the exact same thing, running go-fund-me campaigns.

This is completely ridiculous! Run a team and manage your funds accordingly, and to say that other Sr teams will follow is just as ridiculous! These teams have to be managed like a business over spend suffer the consequences if the Generals are all so guaranteed to go every year they should know the cost and plan accordingly. They have changed their goal now 3 times. Why not try and do something in the community with some kids like a hockey school there is a lot of opportunity to make money just get off your ass and do it. I think this is a black eye for Sr AAA hockey and there is know way possible to justify it.

I think this is a black eye for Sr AAA hockey and there is know way possible to justify it. What an ignorant thing to say. The guys who volunteer for this team put 100's of man hours & their own money behind into it. The team starts skating in the middle of October...and get this...one of the first expenses they incur is to attend the tournament in INNISFAIL, where very good crowds show up to watch PRE-SEASON games. Do the Generals MAKE MONEY from attending that tournament? I doubt it. Does the Eagles make any money from HOSTING that tournament? You can bet your white eagle ass they do. Plus, that pre-season tournament is the ONLY thing Innisfail has won (once) since Sutter & some key sponsors went to Innisfail...so...the people operating & sponsoring the Innisfail team have had a nice holiday from the end of February until November each year. Time to get together, drink, be merry, complain about how Reffing screwed you over 1,2,3,4 and 5 years ago & raise more $$$. Innisfail has already held fund raising events for next year & The Army hasn't even boarded for New Brunswick! And to say that because they "know" in advance they're going to the tournament they shouldnt have to canvas for $$$ is extremely unrealistic & biased. First of all, all snarking aside...nobody knows they're going to WIN a Provincial Title and nor does anyone in Alberta even know if/when a Mac Cup will have to be played for whomever DOES win Alberta...but...everyone can do their best to raise as much $$$ as possible, while spending as little as possible. They moved the team to a bigger centre, I believe they hoped at least one of 2017 & 2018 Allan Cups (both of which were awarded on impromptu/short notice bid selection processes) could come to Alberta ...but...Hockey Canada has repeatedly awarded Allan Cups to host sites which might as well be distant planets as far as The Gens' are concerned. Of course they're in the hole. The go-fund-me page explains its -$20,000. Thats about which they've been saying it cost them to go to the Allan Cup each year. I doubt it's a coincidence. Everyone can simply make their own decision as to make a donation or not. Personally, I will try my best to help them out & I think it's very unfortunate this 2017 tournament was given to New Brunswick in the first place. Might I remind you, it was originally given to Kenora...who had to FOLD...rather than HOST a second AC in less seven years. And I said when it went to Kenora that was a mistake. And when I was proven RIGHT (again) and the subsequent re-bid went to some numbered planet which NASA spotted in a telescope...that ALSO was a mistake. The Army is struggling to keep up to a laffably difficult situation. Nobody is making $$$ ...but...to accuse The Army of being lazy is the most ridiculous thing posted here this season.

Kenora was the worst tournament since the AC went to that format

Kenora was the worst tournament since the AC went to that format And guess who is at the opposite end of that spectrum? The Army. The Beer Gardens and Entertainment area the Generals organized for the 2013 tournament absolutely buried ALL OTHER tournaments. And I'm sure it came at a much higher cost than the freezing cold, dark & very uncomfortable Beer tents of numoerous other Allan Cups. The Gens' could've never spent any $$$ on the 2013 Allan Cup extra entertainment (like several other teams have done/doing) but not instead they went first class all the way. The $$$ they could've pocketed from that tournament would probably come in handy today. (Or maybe it would be long gone after tripsmto Dundas & Clarenville?) Idunno...but I do know....personally...I can't afford to go to New Brunswick. I would love to go...but...I can't turn down 2 weeks of pay to spend 2 weeks of pay...to go to a tournament I'd first have to fly cross country to get to, then get a hotel an hour away from where the rink is and then have to rent a vehicle to commute to the games...(which are the ONLY thing happening during the week)

Distant and desolate hole in the sea ,what holes in the sea are you talking about Just in consideration of logistics...the Atlantic coast is beautiful. The people are very passionate about hockey & memorably friendly. But good people & beers don't cover the costs of travelling. Hockey Canadas' understanding of Allan Cup feasibility is a damned insult.

I LIVE HERE BUT STILL AM BAFFLED BY THE KENORA ALLAN CUP SO CALLED FAILURE. SURE THERE WAS NO BEER GARDEN ON SITE BUT THERE WAS A BAR RIGHT ACROSS THE ROAD. AND OUT OF THE FEW ALLAN CUPS IVE BEEN TO THE RINK IN KENORA WAS BETTER THAN THE OTHERS. THE HOCKEY OF COURSE WAS GREAT.. MAYBE IT WAS NFLD WINNING THAT SUCKED?

How did hosting the 2011 and (potentially) 2017 Allan Cups turn out for the Thistles, AFAN? Pretty obvious the issue wasn't a lack of a beer gardens. It was a dead cold lack of interest and/or feasibility from the entire Citu of Kenora & surrounding area. And of the people who did attend...well...you sat at the only table of people who had a heartfelt interest in it. Which, don't get me wrong, I totally respect. But you guys were about 997 people & $100,000 short.
