This is now my 7th Allan Cup as a fan. I was excited for this years as small towns usually do it up well. The attendance for the non host team games has been great. However, the hosts have dropped the ball on several things. Let’s start with the audio and video. Not only did they stop doing the video, the people trying to listen to the audio have been saying the usually have no clue where the play is and the commentators have no clue how to call the flow of the game and paint a picture of what is going on out there. Secondly, the pointstreak site and goals and assists being given out are incorrect. 2 consecutive games the Manitoba team had players credited with a goal they didn’t score and assists when they weren’t on the ice. That is the refs responsibility I understand on goals and assists. Pointstreak has the wrong goalie minutes and standings though. Third, I was speaking to Alberta and they mentioned that the host has not provided food between periods and after games like all the other hosts have done in the past. The players also do not receive any gift bags like the previous hosts have given out according to the Generals. The on ice product has been great thankfully because several corners have been cut that affect the fan and players experience. Guess they cheaped out so they can pay their players. I look forward to the rest of the week as it looks like it is anyone’s tournament.

The HOST committee has no control over the PointStreak website.
As for LIVE game broadcasting, even though I’m relying on it to see the games, I’ve always said: If you want to follow Allan Cup hockey...your best bet is to be in the rink. Sr hockey venues are...unfortunately...outdated for modern communication technology and even if they’re set up for it...coverage is never gonna be totally reliable/professional/excellent.
That being said...the video product has come from being non-existent to semi-tolerable in the past 48HRS.
And lastly, Let’s be honest...the entire thing would be a helluva lot better if I were there...but...I’m not and I apologize for that. Still might sneak in at some point...in the meantime...hit the gardens...hard.

so far this week has been great, friendly, helpfull, people and great hockey. this is my 5th AC as for the signal, its a tin can arena, very spotty, overall great time so far and the beer garden (curling rink) is also a great place to mingle and meet.

Hey Johnny dipshit, ask the Generals what they provided in 2013. I was speaking with the wings. Some rubber skate guards and not one meal either.

I have heard from several sources the rink out there is a dump...not to mention located near absolutely no amenities?

This is the reality of SR AAA hockey nowadays.
Teams in most parts of the country can only afford to operate out of older/more affordable/small town rinks, unless they’re given sweetheart deals for rink fees in the bigger/newer rinks.
Rosetown definitely lacks some of the convience & selection I need to easily travel with my 5 year old son, which is part of the reason I’m not at the tournament.
But...you can bet your ass you don’t have to explain to anyone in Rosetown what the Allan Cup IS & how GOOD Senior hockey IS.
Rosetown has ran a SR team for over a century and it’s a classic prairie hockey town. In the end..I’m truly glad they got to HOST this tournament. How they went about it...is probably up for review.

I had no problem with the Arena at all They had put in new lighting in the arena and had bowl seating I really hate watching a game with seats on one side The Rosetown rink is almost 50 years old but atmosphere was great

Can't complain at all really. The town itself is missing some of the amenities, sure, but hell, it's part of the charm!
