I thought I heard it would be Ontario's turn to host the event. When a change in format was first mentioned there was something said about it being Ontario's turn and the format change would not be until 2021 if they were going to go back to an east-west final or a four team field.

The 2019 HOST wasn’t announced until January of this year. And even though everyone was talking about big changes on the horizon last summer...like I have been saying all along...highly unlikely any changes will happen before BOTH Alberta & Ontario have opportunities to chomp into another tournament. I won’t pretend to have any inside information on who among ACH teams wants to host another tournament...but...we already know Dundas & Hamilton attempted a last minute replacement bid when Kenora fumbled the 2018 bid. We also know Stony Creek has travelled 3 years in a row and has yet to even have a chance to submit a bid even though they’re now a defending champion and Whitby Dunlops would also seem to have a fair argument should they want to HOST. And all of this is only part of the equation, of course. I am really not convinced the West vs East format provides what SR AAA teams are needing when they look at making changes. The reality is that without placing a Tournament in a HOST site, it’s not feasible or alluring for teams like Bethune Bulldogs to register as AAA. Some people suggest that’s exactly why we DO want to change formats. But if a change is made and teams like Bethune are then deterred from coming aboard, who are we left with? It’s almost impossible to get a collection of input from “potential” SR AAA teams after a format change. It’s highly difficult to find consensus w/o a format change. I tend to think we will continue to eek along status quo.

I am 100% sure Peter Ham will submit a bid and Brantford Blast will host in 2020. Brantford averages more fans than any team in Canada. Not uncommon to see 1000-1500 for regular season games.
You heard it here first.

Not going to lay out a full plan or thoughts but will suggest that each region could host a 4 team tourney somewhat of a regional event to determine a winner, that way you shouldn't lose anybody who presently competes. I do think that leagues of 3 teams or more should host theses events more than single entries. The reason for this it may well have teams/regions work to build leagues, hence improve AAA hockey across the country. Don Robertson

Don, any insight as to if Dundas will bid? Obviously prefer that over driving to Brantford.
Although many were not fans of having two hosts bid - ie Hamilton/Dundas cohosting. . Yes both teams would get the prime time 8pm games but fans would miss half the games. Tourney would lack atmosphere with arenas half an hour away from each other, one in the true city and one in the suburbs.
Would like to see Dundas bid alone. Go back to the beer tent with live feed rather than using the Armouries where very few attended. Third time could be a charm.

I think HOST venue will be well taken care of in ‘19 and ‘20.
The question isn’t where will the tournament be.
It’s; Whose coming?
Highly doubtful any additional branches return.
At best...gain one...lose another...

There was a newspaper article about this time last year that Brantford was planning to put in a bid to host.
Stoney Creek and Whitby have strong teams but neither team draws well at all. On top of that, Stoney Creek's arena is a modern new one with seating on one side only, standing room on the other side and a bar on one end and a wall on the other end, maximum capacity wouldn't be very high at their present rink (which I do believe that the team owns so its doubtful they'd pursue an alternate location).
Dundas hosted last time, so I'd think if other teams put in a strong big that they'd get it. I'm not sure if Hamilton has interest in a solo bid but I could see them as the next logical choice. Look for Brantford to add depth this year (they do have some great talent up front and in goal) and if they have a strong start I'd say they'd be the front runners to host.

Brantford have a great facility with which to host...however, their attendance numbers are heavily papered with free tickets and promotional giveaways. I would love to see Whitby get a chance to host, as well as Stoney Creek...hoerver I understand the rink issues in both towns.
Dundas did a fantastic job last time...Grightmire is the 2nd best Sr rink in the area (behind shade st, of course!).
ON certainly dessrves one last chance to host the tourney after Lacombe...then I am all for the oft-discussed format change.

I'd love to see the Allan Cup hosted by Whitby, they play in a good facility, the big issue is they have a hard time drawing fans there. I'm not quite sure why they struggle so much for fan support, considering they have the population there and in the surrounding areas from Clarington to Pickering.

Sniper thought I would mentioned here that Stoney Creek could host the Allan Cup at gateway and the attendance would be good as we’ve already hosted the Esso Cup there back in 2014 and the crowd’s were great then and that was for midget girls hockey.

Re: your comment about the Blast adding depth for next season...don't hold your breath. The additions the last 2 years have not been up to snuff. Ham is a hype machine but he better start to worry about keeping all those seats filled with having a quality team. Plain and simple. Secondly, player attendance of the so called "top players" on the Blast was suspect at best.
