In Alberta does a team have to play in the ACHW if they declare Senior AAA? Or would they be able to stay in the league or be force to play an independent schedule? Wainwright, Nanton and Daysland have played in the provincial Senior A tournament all of the last three years, just throwing out team from the tournaments. And if I am thinking of it correctly, if any of the teams declared Senior AAA to qualify for the 2019 Allan Cup they would have to play the 2018-19 ACHW playoff champion (or runner up if Lacombe or Rosetown wins the playoffs) for the host branch spot (assuming Quebec is not participating again plus the Atlantic region is not looking like a 100% guarantee on participating right now). Then if BC does not put any teams forward again Alberta could have 3 participants in the Allan Cup tournament, correct? In Alberta, SR AAA teams must play in a league...but...it doesn’t necessarily have to be the ACHW. Horse Lake has registered in 05’ & ‘12 and played out of the NPHL both times.

Didn't know that, that's interesting. So technically, any of the above mentioned teams could play in their senior leagues currently residing in, then just jump in for the playoffs/provincials. Not sure I think it's fair (I don't at all), but hey, it's interesting.

Not sure I think it's fair (I don't at all), but hey, it's interesting. Yes, there have been several teams register SR AAA from leagues other than Chinook/ACHW in the past. Horse Lake last did it in ‘12. We had 4 ‘AAA’ teams in the CHL at the time & HL was given an arbitrary 5th seed which meant they had to play an extra round of playoffs. They beat Fort Sask prior to beating Bentley & then Stony Plain stopped them in a very poorly governed Finals where HL had a win taken away due to paperwork. The following summer, the NPHL got together and basically voted to ban Horse Lake from their league and the summer after that, Chief Dion Horseman passed away. Those are two very unfortunate things which make it unlikely Horse Lake will be resurrected and it’s too bad because they put together great teams both times they’ve made “SR AAA” attempts.

I think you might see Quebec put in an entry sometime within the next few years.
The LNAH has gone from being more of a fighting league to a league for skilled players. Crowds have been good, too. The final between Riviere-du-Loup and Sorel-Tracy have been averaging more than 3,000 fans per game.
There's talk of expansion, so maybe Quebec could make a return. Would be nice to see them back.

I’m not seeing a correlation between a successful & expanding LNAH and a renewed desire in Quebec to pursue Allan Cup.
If anything...they’re further than ever before from coming back into SR AAA hockey.

Hey, I'd love to see a successful league in the Maritimes, but that's nowhere near close to happening anytime soon. We're going on 20 + years since the last time that happened.

LNAH is good and entertaining hockey...but as far from 'amateur' as you can get.

Quebec here! Working on it. Took a look at some of the postings on facebook. Good Luck.
the league has plans for a base team to be based out of the Gatineau area and have already announced teams in Shawville, PQ (May 1st), Fort Coulonge PQ (April 29th), and Cornwall, ON (May 8th).
The league is looking to have 8-12 Senior AAA teams up and going within 3 seasons (2021-22) and are hoping to be able to host the tournament by the fifth season (2023-24).

Hearing rumours around here that the Stoney Creek Generals are moving down the road Grimsby to play out of there and be called the Peach Kings. Will update when I hear more.

That would be a good move in my opinion. Grimsby will draw many more fans. The Stoney Creek location is not ideal. The views from the stands, frankly, are terrible. You can't see about 10 feet of the ice in front of you due to the angle of the stands. Grimsby has great attendance for the Junior C Peach Kings. Any idea if this affects the Junior team? Or will they both be called Peach Kings?

Or will they both be called Peach Kings? The Peach Kings name goes back to at least the 1920's at both the junior and senior level in Grimsby. The senior team played Sr. B in the 1930's and 40's. So probably they will use the Peach Kings name. Probably as the Sr. Peach Kings would be my guess.
