It now looks like:
The Clarenville Caribous joined the East Coast Senior Hockey League.
The Harbour Grace Cee Bee Stars are out action for the season after they pulled out of the CWSHL the week of September 23-29.
Gander and Grand Falls/Windsor will be the only members of the Central West Senior Hockey League. They will play home and home against each of the five members of the ECSHL and 8-10 games against each other.
The West Coast League will have the same four teams as the past few seasons.
No official word on how the Herder will be conducted, but likely it will be the CWSHL champ vs ECSHL champ for the Herder. The WCSHL league was dropped from the discussion several weeks ago.
No word if any team will represent the province in Allan Cup qualifying (but it is looking doubtful anyone take the spot for this year).

Does this rule out Clarenville playing in Allan Cup qualifying and possibly the Allan Cup?
If the schedule is set up correctly, they could participate against the Haut-Madawaska Panthers in a weekend best-of-three series (which should be in Newfoundland this year I think, as last year's was supposed to be in New Brunswick) and the Allan Cup is being held April 8-13; with the Herder being held the weekend of April 19-22. It's a lot of hockey for guys with full time jobs but, it could be done.
The announcement did not state if the league playoffs were being held separate of the Herder like Allan Cup Hockey West did last year or if the Herder will be the semifinals and championship for the league as well.

Teams can register as Senior AAA and play in a Senior AA or A league. Usually, The previous year's Herder is the only team in the province registered at the Senior AAA level.

They only ever registered one AAA team, so the AC reps could cherry pick the best players from the remaining teams as a 'farm system'

That ship has sailed Haut-Madawaska Panthers are in the Allan Cup as Atlantic Rep It is also Garbage that the Branch was able to register a AAA spot instead of a team

That ship has sailed Haut-Madawaska Panthers are in the Allan Cup as Atlantic Rep It is also Garbage that the Branch was able to register a AAA spot instead of a team That was what they were pretty much well doing over the past several years anyway. The defending Herder Cup champion was the only registered team for the following season. New Brunswick was going to start doing the same thing this year with the defending NESHL champion Elsipogtog Hawk being the Allan Cup eligible team for the province for this year but they opted out on participating with the league eventually folding. The Haut-Matawaska Panthers are the defending champion of one of the two remaining leagues in the province. The Circuit de Hockey Senior Roger-Lizotte has been around over 25 years and the other league, the Ligue de Hockey Senior Acadie-Chaleur, is in its 3rd season, which had the other two teams from the NESHL trying to join at the league meeting last spring.
I am surprised at this point BC doesn't have the defending Coy Cup champion be the Senior AAA team representing the province the following season.

I ,like what NFLD has done with their combined leagues, but taking out two rounds of best of 7 playdowns, for a single round robin tournament is awful

the East coast West coast combined league isn't working, teams in East don't want to go West so they are not allowed to play for the Herder. St Johns Caps and North East Eagles cannot play for Herder, and Southern Shore Breakers and CBS can play for Herder. Only two teams on West Coast league, Gander and Grand Falls. Alot of improvements needed for next year and hopefully the changes will come.
