If Hamilton is moving to Stoney Creek. That's no big deal. It maybe a simple arena change as the team deals with the City of Hamilton and decides to use the rink where the Generals played. Remember the Real McCoys played at Harry Howell Arena for a season. Senior hockey as run by the OHA is healthy and Ontario be represented by a strong team when Allan Cup time comes whether 3 or 4 teams declare AAA.

Confirmed they are moving. Rumour is it has to do with some issue with the previous Hamilton Steelhawks main guy Jason Daleo. Don't have that confirmed

Yes old regime from 2021 owed City of Hamilton for use of Dave Andreychuk Arena (Mountain Arena to the old guys 🙂)
New team name is Stoney Creek Tigers.

I would like to know Tom how you think Senior AAA is healthy.Last time I looked there is only 3-4 teams compared to the 38 AA teams in Ontario.

It comes down to stability and the willingness of the governing body to promote and work with the members to allow the game to grow. At AAA there have been the same teams for years up until 2019. Yea we all know the pandemic ruined hockey everywhere so that certainly played a ga your in teams coming and going and leagues having to try new things. However if I am understand what has been said it’s come down to the OHA’s willingness to work with the AAA and AA teams to allow players a path to continue their playing career so to speak and to promote the game in the province.
Out west it’s the same thing, it’s just taking longer to get the relationships back to where they were pre-pandemic and pre 2018-2019 when lots of teams dropped out.

Part of it to I think comes down to that progression as a player. Like if you have 20 plus teams at a AA level and say 4 at a AAA level I feel that’s a fair ratio for senior hockey. Especially if it is localized and spread out enough that allows players who feel they are ready for that next step to play, while not having to commit so much travel and time. It allows the AAA level to be competitive enough and desirable enough that you get the best players. Not saying AA doesn’t have some of the best, however by jusy being part of an organized body and not a “rogue” or “independent” body it allows for better connections of the various levels without having to go through so much red tape to ply or form a team

Outwest95 is bang on
The OHA has to be more involved to grow AAA in Ontario again, now that there is a SR AA league is under their umbrella. Otherwise it will turn into a shit show of money grabs and pay to play schemes.
IMHO the key to making this work, is everyone is a free agent at end of each season. At this age and tenure of their hockey careers, no one wants to deal with release issues, just to play hockey somewhere else. Not everyone is in it for the right reasons, especially when you see all the nutty fees charged in OJHL, GMHL, WOSHL and the like...

Hearing out west that it could be a two-team league in the Chinook If this is true It would be huge news. It essentially would shut down the other two teams for the year. Unless a deal can be worked out in time with the NCHL that would allow teams to retain status for AC. However witt both leagues already done their AGM’s this would take a lot of work to do.

By all accounts it's almost a certainty that Cremona is folding. Will have to see where the other two land, as I don't think the Ranchland will be too welcoming of any Eagles joining their league.
That being said, last season we heard rumblings of a team joining from the Calgary area (Tsuut'ina Nation at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex), as well as some other ones interested in getting in on the action. So I'm a bit surprised nothing has surfaced recently.

It is great that AA teams are in a league under the OHA umbrella. Secondly, if the ACH or (Ontario Sr. AAA) has 3 or 4 teams. The league champion will be a worthy challenger for the Allan Cup. Yes at one point in time there were 10 teams under the OHA who play full season and playoffs who had declared as AAA only to have to still beat a team put together for just a Cup run under the HNO . ( Kenora ) for the Renwick Cup. I think those that have kept Senior AAA hockey together in the last 3 seasons... for their efforts, they should be applauded... and this new AA league (OEHL) is only more good here in Ontario.

What I hear is Powell river is putting in a AAA team forsure this year. Also I hear Caledon is putting in a team in Ontario? I’m sure someone out east can confirm that. Not unless they’re allowing Powell River to register as both AA & AAA. The Regals have posted on their FB page, they’ve already applied to host Coy Cup this spring
