instead of deciding the host team before the begining of the season award it to a region and the teams in the area would then compete for the right to host the tournament .

How long would it take go into hosting the cup . this year Fort Frances Thunderhawks would have played against Kenora for the right to host . They could have played like in january It seems that the host team has an unfair advantage because when they recruit players they can use the fact they are going to the allan cup

even january doesnt give a host enough time to get sponsors and plan much. lots of time is needed. also as far as the hosts having an advantage....this year kenora, fort and clarenville all get the passes. and as i see it all 3 are underdogs heading into it against almost all teams remaining in the hunt. hopefully one can pull it together! just my opinion..

There are many good reason you can't award it during the season I'll provide one 5 teams 20 rooms per team per night is a 100 a day for a week that's 700 rooms plus fans and Hockey Canada's group. I'm sure there aren't many Sr AAA towns that could provide them with 3 months notice. Regards Don Robertson

please...ranul...it takes a whole year to put together a decent hockey team let alone the Allan cup tournament!!! For a team playing in a league all year , equipment, bus travel,Player recruitment, sponsorship, etc...if you think that just happens over night someone is mis-informing you OR you just have no clue. The tournament is around $350,000. to put on so a couple months don't cut it.
The Allan cup, will be a million dollar influx to the local economy, some thought has to go into it.
I imagine you would be able to get a position on the 2012 Allan cup committee if your reeeeeally interested in learning;)
