The Red Wings are coming into Army country tonight and they're expected to bring a star studded lineup.

The best part of the game last night was when the redwings started the 3rd period on a 5 on 3 powerplay and got scored on in 6 seconds haha.. Redwings were out showed up last night should stick to playing senior hockey. Hopefully they have a better showing in bentley atleast they will be playing old/ slow washed up players like themselves

The game last night was great. Hard hitting fast paced. Rosetown looked good for first two periods. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the wings looked good for just having a couple skates together against a world class hockey team. The Denmark team was well conditioned with a few more games under there belt. Fair to say they should of had a few more goals. Rosetown missed some great chances early in game. Great to see local business in rosetown bringing in these players. These players come with familys most live and work in the community. As far the senior hockey they are in Bentley tonight playing a great team with great history. Should be a barn burner

At least a half dozen of which are in the early to mid-20's range.

Torrie Jung & Jeff Harvey split the goaltending for RR. Kirk Pearce, Kyle Hood, Derek Keller, Ryan Menei, Jordie Johnston, Jared Jagow, Devon Leblanc, Russel Goodman, Kent Davyduke, Tyler Butler, Marr Stephenson, Derek Leblanc and Shane Endicott...is the extent of who showed up...and I'm not even sure all these guys were there. I'm just going off memory.
Clarke Wilm, Colby Armstrong, Jeremy Reich, Casey Lee, JJ Hunter, Shay Stephenson.and Ryan Gaucher are in the Wings roster but weren't in Eckville last night.
Final score: 4-2 Bentley
Gens' never trailed. Opened the scoring in the 1rst period. Rosetown responded late in the period to make it 1-1 after 20.
Neither team ever took the game over for more than a single shift...but...Bentley re-took the lead on the best shift of the game in the 2nd. Gens then added to the lead when Kyle Sheen scored off a MENSA pass from Donny Morrison, creating a breakaway. Wings swapped Jung for Harvey after that goal.
I was surprised & impressed at the legs the Wings were able to display I the 3rd period. They'd been pounded by the Denmark U-19 team 24 HRS earlier, rode the bus all day and played with with a short bench but that didn't stop them from pressing in the 3rd period. Kent Davyduke scored to make it 3-2 with under 10 to go in the game.
The Army got a late goal to make it 4-2 before the Wings had got to the point where they were ready to pull the goalie for the extra attacker...so...they took a T/O and tried to set up a 2 goal rally but a full house watched the final seconds secured.
It was a good but not great night of hockey overall. The game wasn't ferocious and the passing wasn't precise. Only 3 power plays the entire night.
Rosetown looks good. Even better on paper at this point.

Rosetown with a pretty impressive list of players. Still questionable between the pipes... Are they under the $69 million salary cap?

Not sure about how they're putting all this talent together. There's obviously some money involved...but...most of the AAA roster doesn't play league games in the SVHL.
I know a few of Rosetowns' ringers were hired as sales reps with Mainline Motors...the cash artery sponsor of the team.
Shane Endicott was out of shape & not a factor when Rosetown brought him to the 2013 Allan Cup in Red Deer.
He looked like a much improved player last night. Clearly in much better shape...he was the busiest forward on the ice.

Wade will the generals be going to rosetown this year Yes. On January 3rd. And it's a very good bet Rosetown will have an even more stacked roster at home than they brought to Eckville last nite.

Hopefully plenty of folks who CAN make it to Rosetown will choose to do so.
Last time The Army bussed out there...the crowd was rather disappointng.
Rosetown has been icing good teams despite the struggle to find quality opponents to play against.
On those rare occasions where they do book a big game...they gotta have a big crowd...otherwise...they'll pack it in sooner rather than later.

I'm home from another exciting instalment on the drilling rig & doing some trip planning for the big game on the 3rd.
Not much for hotels in Rosetown.....
