Hockey Canada is in a real pickle here
They threw out St Georges and every other Quebec team in the LNAH as a pro league
Now they are trying to again hide their heads in the sand and ignore the LNAH issue and hope it goes away.
Can't have it both ways, fellas...time for HC to actually nut-up and make a tough decision.
NO way should anyone from LNAH, who has played there after the cut-off, be allowed to play in the AC...especially given how many special advantages Nfld already has.

That is not at all surprising, and entirely pathetic.

It's without a doubt a highly contestable decision. Any SR AAA team that really wanted to raise a stink...could attack this bullshit and insist that it be made right...but...there is next to zero accountability and its obviously being abused to a shameless degree in this situation.
I'm 99.9% sure Bentley, specifically, will NOT make a point of protesting. The Army executive has plenty of experience with this stuff and they know best case scenario is it would only raise a dark cloud over THEM..making them look like poor sports...while probably getting nowhere near Justice in the end.
Honestly...F*ck it! I'm not spending my $$$ to support Newfoundlands shady, catered to, bullshit tournament.
I can only hope The Army can put it all together...just right...and bring our baby home.

The other teams that qualify should tell the boys on the rock to stick it then maybe hockey Canada will fix this crap once and for all.

The other teams that qualify should tell the boys on the rock to stick it then maybe hockey Canada will fix this crap once and for all. That's one option. Another option is to load up the crew, go out to the rock and TRY...with every thing you've got...to wrench this Allan Cup away from them. And make no mistake...it's already damned near handed to them. I can already visualize the mondo-fiasco the "reffing" end of things is going to be.

Please don't Group the Cataracts with the Caribous...We are bringing a team that is strictly CWSHL players....the only two imports who are going to be on the roster played with us all season...Cam Fergus and Collin Circelli plus Rob Hennigar who was a member of the Cataracts last season.... Luke Gallant has been living in Newfoundland for the past 3 yrs...so I don't count him as an import (HNL guidelines).
I really thought that the Caribous would have played with atleast 70% of there roster..but it does not look that way....I haven't seen there roster so I am only speculating. The Cataracts roster will be released soon.

GFW is already an extremely strong team without any AP's. Fergus could very well be the top SR AAA player in Canada.
I absolutely DO have some key items to pick at regarding GFW and while they might not be "equally" culpable in getting "perks"...they've still been legislated some stupendous helping hands.
GFW has known for over a year already they'll be in the AC. This provides them with recruitment leverage equal to the HOST team. This is a major inconsistency from the rest of Canada and it should have never happened in the first place. It's gone beyond perplexing and Into a shade of pathetic that they're still being given a 364 day head start on everyone else...even in a year where they're playing games just down the road from their HOME rink.
Secondly, just like Clarenville, GFW selects AP's from what is clearly a "AAA" league. There is no rhyme or reason to calling the CWSHL a "AA" league. It is an utterly transparent play on the technicalities and they're using it to full abuse/advantage.
Would Henniger have been recruitable without first knowing you were going to AC? Fergus? Not a chance.
Regardless of that, Clarenville is taking an all time huge shit in the Allan Cup. They're one upping GFW with these LNAH signings and they've (apparently) already got Hockey Canada in their pockets.
It's shameful. They should be embarrassed. This is "their" tournament. This is NOT "their" toilet.

Wade are you upset that henniger didn't accept the generals offer this off season? Should have offered more money. Sour grapes maybe

Wade are you upset that henniger didn't accept the generals offer this off season? Should have offered more money. Sour grapes maybe Is that really the most insightful thing you could contribute to the topic? Seriously. The Army work 365 days/year trying to build their teams. They make 1000's of phone calls and they get told "NO" ten times to every "YES" they hear. Regarding Henniger specifically, they attempted to contact him as soon as he was rumoured to be coaching at UNB. He never returned calls. Were they interested in talking to him? Yes. Did they move onto other excellent players? I believe they have. But..NO...it has nothing to do with this topic & I took up this issue several years ago, already. Focus. SK. Focus on the big picture.

I understand your frustration Wade...but your beating that dead horse to a pulp. The Cataracts may have qualified over a year ago for the Allan Cup..But our focus was on our regular Season and our league in general... we only added guys from our draft system here on the Island. We also had the last pick in the draft...and we only added 2 guys to our regular roster from the Draft....Chris Sparkes....who is a 3rd line winger.....and Steve Yetman who was a great pick up...but was the 4th pick in a dispersal draft of players from the now defunct Mt. Pearl Blades.. and the CBN Stars. We have not abused any system...All players with the Cataracts will be from the CWSHL...With the exception of Rob Hennigar..you know him?..lol...he played with the Cataracts last season...and would have been back if he never took a Job with UNB as an Assistant Coach there...We picked up 3 guys from the last place Gander Flyers and 1 maybe 2 including a back up goalie from the Corner Brook Royals.

I'm not the one beating the dead horse.
I am the one who killed the horse. I brought these discrepancies to this forum several years ago...I argued against all the different flimsy defences and I've predicted exactly how it turned out.
When AC2015 was first awarded to NFLD, I predicted they would still qualify their teams a full season ahead of the tournament despite the fact the REASON for doing it this way was no longer relevant.
I also predicted the 2 teams from this specific league would enlist players from the entire league despite the fact the entire league is "AAA" eligible.
I also predicted the CWSHL league specific import rules would be irrelevant to the ALLAN CUP rosters despite some people out there claiming these rules were holding SR AAA in NEWFOUNDLAND back.
I am standing over wreckage and still reading feedback from people trying to tell me..."it's not that bad"..."other teams do the same thing" and my personal favourite..."so...what's all the fuss about?".
NEWFOUNDLAND teams could have made this right a couple years ago...simply by declaring this ONE league to be "AAA", qualifying tournament teams in the correct season and abiding by the same rules as everyone else.
But...they didn't.
