The biggest problem with Brantford is the civic centre great old building but not OHL caliber maybe Reg Dunlop and the Chiefs caliber.

would kill sr hokey if Peter was in on it...no way he would operate Blast as as well
but dont hold your breath
Sherry Bassin said today bankruptcy was only a formality to keep team operating and to prevent Katz from getting a hold of the club.

I do know Bfd was trying to act as a transitional location a year ago, for a team that was alleged to be moving to Hamilton, so who knows.

Keep in mind that Don Robertson was involved publicly (if I remember correctly) in both trying to bring the NHL and coincidently the Otters to Hamilton over the last few years. And now with the Belleville Bulls are coming to Hamilton/Dundas, Don has been in the media again endorsing Major Jr hockey coming back to Hamilton. Dundas has had the AHL Bulldogs for the last 19 years and now the Jr Bulldogs. Whitby has the Oshawa Generals. Cambridge Hornets had Jr B and the Kitchener Rangers. Heck even Bentley has Major Jr Red Deer. So to say the Blast would go away because of a Jr team is silly. Two completely different animals. Lastly take a look at how many junior teams at all levels there are in Ontario. Easily over 100 teams from Jr A down to Jr C.
None of those teams have any bearing on Senior hockey. Brantford has 12 home dates all winter. The only issue that can arise is if any one team is granted eclusitivity st an arena - ie Brantford Civic centre.
So if true im looking forward to another Dundas (Hamilton) vs Brantford rivalry.

I think what Naitch is saying is...if The Civic Centre was ever to have an OHL team take up residence...the Blast would be SOL for ice time.
Bentley obviously doesn't have to compete for ice time with the Rebels. But on those rare occasions where the Rebels are winning...The Army does notice a drop-off at the gate.
We've been lucky the Rebels are mostly a pedestrian in the WHL. That will change next year, with Memorial Cup in town.
Major JR leaves a huge footprint on the hockey market. I hope the Blast will be OK.

Rumours Rumours Rumours
Give me a freakin break. The Florida sales team, acting on behalf of the Erie Otters, will NOT be selling the team to anyone who wants to move them to Brantford.
Brantford is exactly the type of town the O wants to get out of - see Cornwall, Belleville, etc. David Branch will want nothing to do with Brantford. They may be used as leverage, similar to how many use Hamilton when owners are negotiating with there cities for better leases - ie the Oilers met with Hamilton officials when Edmonton council balked at a new arena.
Same with OHL. They will not be in Brantford. Mark this post down my friends.

I agree...Bfd tried...and failed...to become a provisional OHL home...the OHL does not need any ore Owen Sounds or St Mikes, etc.
My oint was IFIFIF Bed Civic Centre got an OHL team, and it was owned by the same guy who owns the Sr A team, then Sr hockey would cease to exist there.

Donnie and Peter Ham are friends. Don stated on here that the Blast are a model franchise and that they are not going anywhere. Obviously discussed with Ham. If Ham was involved, it would be known. And even if he is, in any way, he has been involved with Senior hockey for decades...he would not be a part of Senior hockey dying in Brantford in my opinion

You spell like me big guy, OHL teams sell for $7+M now and I think the demographics in Brantfird would support it I'm sure ( Minnesota now has a healthy NHL franchise so you can go back) that said there has been little appetite for spending $50M on new rink trust me I know.. I'm sure the Blast are safe as a model franchise in the ACH Don Robertson
