Allowing the previous year's winner is such a bad policy...those teams from NFLd then end up bringing an all star team of guys they 'pick up' for the AC.

I would just like to point out that the 'golden years for senior hockey were back in the 60s, 70s and 80s. The quality of play was equal to at least the old ECHL or Central League, and it was a much better brand of hockey tgsn east we see today. Far more physical, as well.
Those days, teams played down through provincial and regional series, ultimately resulting in east vs west in a best of 7. It was truly a war of attrition. For example, when the Cambridge Hornets won in 1983, they had to best Petrolia (after Chatham) in-league, then host Thunder Bay just to get out of ON, then travel to Stephensville Nfld, and then come home to host St. Boniface in the AC Finals...ALL after playing a 30-plus game regular season.
This does not make that Cambridge team special, except to those of us who supported or played for them, but simply serves to illustrate what a truly glorious grind winning championship really was...
Sigh...

I would love to see a more all encompassing senior AAA format here in ON...we have a very robust 'outlaw' league that plays entertaining hockey and isn't subject to the draconian OHA or Hockey Canada regulations...allowing these operators to compete with the traditional ACH league would be great for fans and players across SW Ont.
IMO, of course. There are insurance issues and other disagreements that would have to be worked out, and several old conflicts to put aside...LOL

A true champion of SrAAA hockey..he ran this and the AC sites, and travelled to every tournament, every year, on his own dime.
His photos and tireless reporting will be greatly missed.

OHL season is going ahead in december...that leaves a faint glimmer of hope, but nothing has been announced.

I don't love he short qualifying trail they always get to take advantage of, but hats off to a first rate Sr AAA organization, that is always one of the toughest outs in the tournament, year in and year out.

There was a plan floating around that seemed very promising and doable, that many people would support.
I sincerely hope the death of this year's AC doesn't negatively impact the future of SR AAA hockey in ON..and beyond. The tournament organizers this year put a lot of work into both the tourney, and the health of the league going forward.
