GFW got a player something like Sheen only he will be looking for a player not expecting to get hit then he tries to put him out of the game ,also if challenged he backs down .very bad player for this .he put Ryan Salivs out last year ith a dirty hit . Teams have to look out for guys like this

I believe the player you are referring to is Rodi Short. Why sugar coat it? Yes he hit Ryan Salvis last season with a very questionable hit and left him injured and unconscious for some time. Rodi is not known for fighting, however with his style of play and size (big boy) youd think he would answer the bell once in a while for his actions. I have heard on numerous occasions guys mention they would like to crush him or fight him.
Either this thread is about the Sheen hit on Smythe and the suspension of 16 games. Is that official or just a rumour? Personally, I feel like 16 games is a lot I have read that his past track record is not squeaky clean but dont see this as warranting 16 games, I figured 7 games max would have been plenty or even rest of season (Allan Cup included). 16 games will transfer into next season which I dont agree with.

Teams have to look out for guys like this Dexter, i know this is bait, and i will take a little nibble. Rodi does play hard that's his style. he has been played Senior hockey for 6-7 yrs with us and had 1 suspension on a hockey play where 2 players we racing for the puck at high speed, neither guy let up. Both are big boys and Salvis got the worst of it. i don't think it was a dirty hit. HNL seen it other wise. he served his suspension so lets move on.

Dexter tries to take over a thread yet again. Same thing he does on NLHockeytalk. This thread is about Sheen, not Rodi's 1 suspension.
Sheen took advantage of a vulnerable player , but some responsibility has to go to Smyth. He is cutting across the slot with his head down. Expect a hit. This hit deserves a suspension but I am inclined to agree with Wade. This suspension was more severe because it went viral and got so much attention.
Should have been 5 games.

16 games sounds brutally severe...that is a simple case of the victim's last name.

Hey Jim why don't you put your hockey knowledge ,which is zero to rest.Boy if that was Steve Rice when your dad owned the Hornets, you would be on here bitching like crazy.Take the cheap shots out and you'll get good players to play senior hockey leave that in and you won't get the Ryan Smith's to play.Last time I checked its guys like these guys that seats in the stands.

Hey Billy Bob...why dont you take a long hard pull on my ass.
I would be upset if any player on 'my' team got hit in the head...but 16 games seems pretty severe for the hit that I have actually seen. have you, or are you just running your yap?
ex-pro's add a certain element to the game...sure...when they show up...and that ahs ALWAYS been a huge problem...they are not the salvation of Sr AAA hockey.
leave fighting IN the game, and et players police it themselves, and you will reduce cheap shots even more...but that horse has left the barn....
nobody wants to 'leave in' cheapshots...that is hardly what is even being debated here...sorry you are too simple to grasp that. what is being discussed is what is a fair or appropriate penalty for this type of play...if it was not Ryan Smyth, the penalty is likely half of what it was...and that is wrong...No place for cheapshots, but no place for duplicity when enforcing the existing rules, either.

Just to add to the fire:
If it was someone else and not Sheen, would it have been 16 games?
OR
If it was someone else on the receiving end and not Ryan Smythe, would it have been 16 games??

both good points
I am more in favour of seeing repeat offenders punished more harshly, than star players protcted more than others.

Heard an interview with Reid Wilkins. He was discussing the suspension with the league president of Alberta. A number of things contributed to the lengthy number. head contact, defenceless player, could have avoided him, instead changed direction to hit him. Also repeat offender and he was taunting the bench after the hit.

ITS THE SAME AT ALL LEVELS OF HOCKEY HEAD SHOT AN NHL STAR SUCH AS A CROSBY OR MCDAVID DELIBERATLY AND SEE IF YOU GET A MORE SEVERE SUSPENSION THAN HITTING SOMEONE LIKE A GRINDER ? IF SHEEN HAS PLAYED HOCKEY FOREVER HE SHOULD KNOW ITS LIKELY NOT COOL TO INJURE BADLY A RYAN SMYTH. IM NOT SAYING I AGREE WITH THE DIFFERENT SET OF STANDARDS BUT I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE 16 GAMES. IF IT WAS ONLY 5 GAMES THEN HOW BADLY DOES THAT HURT THE GENS WHEN THEY WILL LIKELY MOVE ON TO THE ALLAN CUP W/O SMYTH THERE. SHEEN WOULD BE BACK FOR THE ALLAN CUP AND THAT I DONT AGREE WITH.. ALL THAT SAID IM REALLY INTERESTED TO SEE IF SMYTH IS BACK SOON OR IF NEVER WHICH IS BAD.
