As an intense autopsy is being conducted on "the greatest Senior AAA team in the history of Ontario" I wanted to interrupt the proceedings to point out a curious accomplishment which was made this past weekend:
Matt Stefanishion...impersonating a Newfie....has now won 3 Allan Cups with 2 different teams.
Less than a handful of players all-time can say they've won multiple Allan Cups.
Off the top of my Jofa...I can only think of ONE other player with 3 rings from 2 teams: Scott Hood.
I guess it's the same old analogy...if you can't beat em jjoin em...
The Gens had just dropped the 2008 Allan Cup Final and the first off-season call they made that summer was to Scott Hood, whose career had forced him to move from his hometown (Lloydminster) to Red Deer. Hood brought his double championship experience to the war machine which ransacked 2009 Steinbach.
Stefanishion has now been hired (twice) by Newfoundland SR AAA entities. It paid dividends this time around.
"Big Iron" won with Bentley in '13 & 16'
And then became "Big Cat" in 2017.
I can't fault him for taking the opportunity.
As The DCOSH...I'd be remiss not to point out his handful of AC Rings. Big time Bling!!!

was he never 'hired' by Bentley? He's actually been carded 6 different Senior teams since 2013: Bentley, Big Valley, Clarenville, Daysland and GFW. He will turn 34 this October & he's a brand new Dad. Not see if A 4rth AC is a goal of his.

he is still only 34...geez and you avoided my (tongue in cheek) question!!! The Army discovered him when he was at SAIT. They unveiled him to the nation in 2013 and everyone has wanted a piece of him ever since. He rode the shuttle from Calgary with the rest of the boys. No special deal here.

Thought you were above that.

Didnt Cory mceachern the goalie with Thunder Bay bombers and Lloyd also win in two spots and become a national rental player? Newfie is not a bad term.
