Super disappointing seeing the AAA league shut down essentially after Lacombe and Rosetown dropped out.
The Senior AA circuit isn’t strong enough province wide to bring back a complete AAA league like of years past, but if some of them joined forces, there’d be some competitive teams for certain.
It gives the province time to consider how it should work. Would love to see teams in Southern & Northern Alberta come into the fold, not just central like it currently is.
Could be interesting!

Is the Allan Cup itself cancelled or is it just the Allan Cup qualifying in Alberta?
The wording on the article has me a little bit confused. Some of the information has me questioning the source as it still called the league Allan Cup Hockey West (which it changed back for 2019-20) and there being teams in Northern Ontario (Kenora last played in 2015).

The Allan Cup at this time has not even been assigned to a host city although I assume its first dibs to Hamilton/Dundas if they want to run it Hockey Canada requires three teams to make a league so officially the ACHW did not exist last year I would expect some announcement from ACH Ontario soon regarding confirmation on their plans for the season

Can’t imagine anyone in the ACH would be seriously considering AC2021 at this point. Not with a straight look on their face, at least.
And as for long term forecasting....it doesn’t look good at all.
The ACH is the only league in all of Canada that wants anything to do with Allan Cup these days.
I think...if the rules & systems ever get overhauled & prestige restored...it could be possible to market the Allan Cup to prospective people & communities who might come out of the woodwork.
But the model we’ve got...the same model we’ve had since the mid-90’s...doesn’t work. And when I read articles talking about local players/lower budgets trying to stretch it out...it’s beyond clear to me there is no overhaul coming anytime soon.
It’s funny...the biggest crowds ever counted in Stony, Inny, FSJ, Bentley, Rosetown or Horse Lake & go one down the list...the teams had spent $$$ & put tons of recruiting work into it to make it happen. I think...it was worth it. The quality of the hockey was unsurpassed. I saw it with my own two eyes & I highly doubt a cheap knock off will ever have any success
