Wade, my point is even if mb had a triple a league guys would still play single a because that's what keeps the small town teams alive . Manitoba should have a AAA league but the A teams would be reduced. And my point is...when there is only one choice for players to actually, actively compete at...its obviously going to be a higher level of play than what the "title" indicates. The affiliated players SEPT brought to Clarenville were all very good players. If memory serves me accurate, all of them had extensive pro time on their resumes & make no mistake...MB's Senior Hockey Leagues are NOT 3rd rate leagues. Like I said before...its the BEST (and only) SR hockey in the Province. Totally different scenario in Ontario, Throughout Canada...there are SOME splendid SR A teams featuring excellent players. They're not playing SR AAA because there isn't any SR AAA to play in most of the country. That being said...among the precious few SR AAA teams who DO play games...most of them would easily handle most (if not all) small town, lower tier SR A squads.

This has more positives than negatives fr Sr AAA hockey in ON.
The key is getting enough buy-in from perspective owners...it may be a tough sell, and getting 6-10 tams for a new league COULD prove difficult.
There will definitely be enough quality players to make affiliation a worthwhile endeavour. This can also improve the hockey landscape in the Province as a whole, as it streamlines the playing opportunities from junior hockey into Senior. ANYone who played Jr A-D now has a legit option for playing competitive hockey...if even a handful of those players are not Sr AAA ready right off the bat, they may well 'percolate' in Intermediate for a few years before graduating to AAA as a more mature and complete player.

Why would this league need owners? Could they not be ran as a non profit organization and the towns these teams play in give deals on ice time and whatnot? That's how senior A leagues are done in MB, SK, and AB. Maybe Ontario is different?

That's how senior A leagues are done in MB, SK, and AB. Maybe Ontario is different? Profit or not...someone still has to be responsible for the bills. Also...although Allan Cup HOST teams often times negotiate some rebates or special circumstantial arrangement with ice times...nowadays most SR AAA teams are NOT getting any kind of discounts or financial assistances. In fact...I've learned of more than a few situations where the SR AAA team(s) have been a a primary revenue driver for arenas where no other high end tenants were even available...and yet...still paying top $$$ despite being the only visible reason the rink was even operatarional!

Lots of variables...Most pricing lists will distinguish different rates for prime & non-prime slots...but...then you have differing criteria for what a "prime time" slot is.
I'd say SR AAA teams would average in the $180-200 range. Keeping in mind this expense would be a little ways down the list of we ranked them all.

Rural Alberta rinks would be under a little less pressure from the laws of supply & demand than what I would think you guys experience in GTA.
In Calgary & Edmonton...the prices would jump up to $300 range, I'm sure.
Red Deer will be going up drastically in the next year or so because the RDA is going to be torn down next spring and a replacement facility constructed on the ashes of the old girl...which means...one less operating arena during the tear down & re-build phase followed by a much more expensive facility once the new one is completed.
