Unfortunate for Dundas they had a short bench. Its double poison for MLH teams running into logistical issues because they lack the option of any viable affiliation to provide some help on a night like tonight.
Still...I have to wonder...on a night like tonight...where Dundas clearly didn't have any answer:
Why leave your #1 netminder in for the entire shelling? Maund was the 2nd best goalie in the game... IMO...I would never have started him for the 3rd period?
Doesn't much matter at this point. The 'Coys will get some fresh bodies up here for tommorow night and The Army will see a much better team, I think.
Not a convincing effort by either squad...
But...
Kenora has put themselves in the drivers seat with tonights outcome.
They went to the net and they took shots when they had the chance to do so.

THE NETTING IS HORRIBLE. I USED TO STAND ALL GAMES FOR YEARS BUT THIS YEAR IVE TAKEN TO SITTING A GOOD PORTION OF GAMES. IT WAS A CHIPPY GAME IN THE LATTER HALF WITH LOTS OF RETALIATION SLASHES AFTER WHISTLES ETC BY BOTH SIDES. WHY WADE DO YOU SAY NOT A CONVINCING EFFORT BY EITHER SQUAD?? 6-1 AINT TOO BAD, OR SHOULD THEY HAVE WON BY 12?

They just weren't called. 2 on Pitre and 1 on Hurst. Those are just the one's I saw. Hopefully Dundas will get some more bodies up there and give a legitimate run at this.

Don did the same thing last year in Fort St. John. If my memory severs me right Dudas only had six or seven players for the opening ceremonies, which all teams must attend. This event is planned at least a year in advance you would think that the players could get time off work, except maybe the guys that are coaching junior. The Ontario affiliation rule does hamper teams from there but they still must have access to at least twenty-six players. I know Don does not like the tournament format but I do not think it is going to change any time soon. I would not count Dudas out quite yet.

11 or 12 skaters for an AC game is a bit of a travesty. However, because nobody gets eliminated in the round robin, the result really means very little. It is definitely harder to go through the QF playdown, but not impossible. Hell, half of the McCoys will only end up playing 2-3 games anyways, if they get to the Final, so they shouldn't be tired..plus Dundas get Wed off, which could help.

Plus - unless you ar ethe host team or have an extremely easy path to the AC, how are you supposed to plan in advance? The Norwood / Dundas series went 7 games and finished just over a week ago. Not many employers I know allow vacations or time off on short notice.

Sure Dundas has access to 26 players but three of them haven't played a single game all year......are Kuwabara, Walker and Rourke going to be in Kenora? I highly doubt it!

Dundas4me, I would also like to note that our AAA team has been in eight Allan Cups, five of which had involved more travel mileage that your team has had to travel to Kenora. And we have never traveled with less the the minimum amount, twenty, players that are allowed to dress for a game. When you sign a AAA card you should be prepared to attend the Allan Cup.

My opinion counts for s#!+. Anyways, yes the MLH final series went a surprising 7 game which ended last Thursday. In hindsight, maybe poor planning by Dundas and |Norwood. That said yes 12 skaters is disappointing but nothing really counts til Thursday except for something called the Big MO. OHF teams have no affiliates to rely on based upon current state of SR hockey in OHA. Is what it is. Getting time off on such short notice is Difficult.. it is that simple. Thanks to all players across Canada who make the sacrifice to chase a National championship.
