Wade, as you are the one who has successfully chased so many people from this forum over time and are no doubt a significant contributor to Bentley fan attendance dwindling to noting, it is not likely very many people really care how you think or feel. Good luck working your never ending obnoxious act in Lacombe.

how far apart are the 2 towns? About 15 minutes of easy secondary highway driving. Basically the other side of Gull Lake.

so it will be easy for all the gens fans to follow them...which is important Actually, they've already got quite a following in Lacombe. Quite a few people who were born & raised in Bentley but since moved to Lacombe. I certainly don't think they'll lose any fans with this move. Not sure they'll gain quite what some people are hoping for, either. As we've discussed in the past...and I've reluctantly admitted...The Army needs a closer/tougher competition from the rest of the league in order to restore the fervour of a few years ago. The Provincial Championship needs to be an event...not a technicality. But...there is no doubt it stopped being remotely realistic to operate the biggest SR AAA operation in Canada from the smallest centre a long time ago.

Thoughts on how any of the AA teams could step up to AAA in the Chinook now that it's down to 4 squads? Look at some of the games in there with teams like Bonnyville and Tofield running the North Division, while Devon and Daysland seem to be fairing well in the South as well. www.northcentralhockeyleague.com/leagues/standingsTotals.cfm?leagueID=17388&clientID=4841Just a thought on making it more competitive, or even just more exciting for the teams not doing so well in the Chinook consistently to have some better quality games, if that makes sense.

Big Valley approached the CHL this past summer about jumping on board as a "AA" team. It's my understanding the CHL wishes to hang on to their exclusive AAA status, at least for the time being. Stony Plain had an exy against Devon this past fall and furiously hammered them. The only AAA team in the CHL in need of some thinner competition would be Fort Sask, IMO. And I think the Chiefs still have a AAA quality team, on paper. The biggest issue biting them so far this season has been having ALL the key players showing up on a more committed basis. That being said...I don't think closing the door in the faces of these NCHL teams would be wise, should they show a thirst for higher levels of competition. I'm just not sure that's what they're looking for if/when they enquire. It might be more of a geographical convienence for them than anything else. And lastly...It's not the bottom end teams needing weaker completion. The CHL needs to produce better competition for the top end team. And notice I'm no longer using the plural "s" when I say this.

Wade, am glad to hear the Army will still be around even though they will be in new headquarters. I apologize if this has been discussed already but what about the name for the team?

Wade, am glad to hear the Army will still be around even though they will be in new headquarters. I apologize if this has been discussed already but what about the name for the team? That was my exclusive question asked last week while I sat with the Commanders and I was looked, dead in the eye, as they explained to me what the name will be and why. The team will be known as "Lacombe Generals" starting next season. They feel they MUST allow themselves to be fully absorbed into a new town and fully committed to being a point of pride in Lacombe. They recieved suggestions for other names...like "Rockets" which was the name of a legendary juvenile program in Lacombe back in the 60's. They travelled to CZE republic back then, with a generational group of 18-20 year olds. Slightly more recently, SR teams in Lacombe were called the "Merchants". Both names have roots in town...but...sweaters with new colours and cresting would run $20,000+ and that's not an option. Plus, the "Gens" have extraordinary identity strength compared to 90% of teams at this level playing with the "Big G" on the existing sweaters and they NEED to keep marching with that. So...ya...Lacombe Generals, it is.

CANT BLAME LACOMBE FOR WANTING THE TOWN NAME IN THERE. YOU SHOULD BE OK THAT THEY ARE STILL THE GENERALS, STILL YOUR TEAM. STILL CLOSE TO SEE GOOD HOCKEY FOR YOU. YOUR WAY BETTER OFF THAN FANS IN KENORA! ALSO ARE THE NEW SWEATERS MADE OF GOLD? 20000 SEEMS WAY WAY TOO HIGH.

YOUR WAY BETTER OFF THAN FANS IN KENORA! ALSO ARE THE NEW SWEATERS MADE OF GOLD? 20000 SEEMS WAY WAY TOO HIGH. If your pricing out something for your beer league team, I'm sure you can find a better price than $250/sweater. If your needing something you can wash twice a week and not have the chickenshit cresting melt off in the dryer...things start to get pricey. Very. Pricey. Sk, I was told Torrie Dyck would be playing in Bentley after the Christmas Break. That was a few months ago. Very possible he's playing in SK right now. I believe he is a SK product, no?
