A big & nostalgic step in the transition today...The Bentley Generals have officially changed their name to "Lacombe Generals" effective right now!
A wild 17 year ride atop SR AAA hockey...begun from "The Model Village of the West" will continue on under a new roof, with a new name but the same mighty war machine...marching stronger than ever.

17 yrs atop Sr AAA hockey? erm...maybe not exactly? No. Not exactly. They were not very good, at all, the first couple years. To be exact...The Army actually first began to trend upwards in 2003 (4 years into things) and I wouldn't say they were truly the top dog any earlier than 2009. Since then...They're ability to remain at or very near the top of the heap can't be questioned. They've been in the Allan Cup Finals six times since 2009. Won it 3 times. So...ya...that would put them in the penthouse for an extended stay to say the least.

In the past, it has been an inferior league, based on domination by a single team. I think it earned its bones this year where a lesser team took the eventual Allan Cup Champs to OT in game 7

Another big change for The Army...Head Coach, Ryan Tobler, will be pursuing a professional coaching career with Colorado Eagles of the ECHL.
The Gens' expect to announce a replacement soon.
