Just to recap for those not familar with the Sask Man playoff situation
Quebec has again not iced a team so their spot goes to the Host Branch Manitoba This means that there is no need for a Rathgaber Cup between Saskatchewan and Manitoba
Therefore 1. The Lone Saskatchewan AAA team Shellbrook advance directly to the Allan CuP 2. South East Prairie Thunder are in as the Host Team 3 The Two remaining AAA teams in Manitoba Ile des Chenes North Stars and Manitoba Lightning play off for the other Allan Cup spot
Manitoba Semi Final IDC wins Best of Three 2-1 Ile des Chene advances to Allan Cup Winner will also play South East for the Manitoba Championship (Both teams have already qualified for Allan Cup}
Sun Feb 28 Ile des Chenes North Stars 5 vs Manitoba Lightning 4 in Morden 2:30 PM Sun Mar 6 Manitoba Lightning 4 at Ile des Chenes North Stars 3 Double Overtime Sun Mar 13 Ile des Chenes North Stars 5 vs Manitoba Lightning 4 in Morden 7:30 PM

So if the purpose of having a different host team is to strike up interest in which ever province the allan cup is played in then why is hockey mb running the provincial tournament the same week as the allan cup . This will surely have a negative effect on the bottom line for the prairie thunder , and what about the players will they be allowed to compete in both .

Plans are underway for the Senior "A" Tournament to be finished the week-end prior to the Allan Cup .

It's the same everywhere.
If Man vs Sask or BC vs AB had to be played they would be played the same time. It has always been done that way. Would you prefer we have play downs down in early March and then teams can sit for a month?

no its not the same everywhere , Manitoba is the only province that has their provincials the same time as the allan cup.

Hey Tom. Are you dumb or lazy. Read what the poster before is talking about. Manitoba playoffs can't be the same week as Allan Cup unless you are talking about AA or A playoffs which have no bearing on the Allan Cup because Allan Cup is for AAA teams.

Manitoba Cup (provincial championships) semi-finals Saturday April 9 and finals Sunday April 10. Allan Cup starts April 11 therefore no overlap.

Well there you have it , it only took hockey mb 4 years and one disaster to figure out that having the Manitoba cup the same week as allan cup is not a good idea . and to the guy named guest Manitoba does NOT have a triple a league and they do not have a double a league or any aa teams for that matter . Triple a teams are allowed to add 10 single a players to their roster so with 3 teams in mb this year that means 30 skaters and 3 goalies are eligible . So yes single a has a huge bearing on triple a , I hope that clears up the confusion you appear to be struggling with.

Think the Branch has struggled all along with the timing of the Senior/ Allan Cup. Ice availability at the Iceplex earlier was and is a problem to contend with and to move unilaterally might have created issues with sponsorship . You have to admit the adult rec and senior championship on the same week-end made for extra interest from fans .
