Not sure how many of you have ever gone onto the Newfoundland hockey site/forum. I have gone on many times (McCoys0077). The discussions are very passionate. The fans and posters, in general, take Senior hockey very seriously. Many times I've been on the forum and there are over 100 posters visiting the forum at the same time. Those numbers rival the Hamilton Tiger-Cats forum which has one of the highest traffic numbers in all of Canada. Just saw this post. Very sad, the moderator, administrator, Barry Wheeler, is closing down the forum. Too bad as its a tremendous place for Newfoundland hockey fans to discuss hockey. And Barry does a tremendous job!! Wondering, and this is directed at anyone, but maybe more so towards Doug (the admin/owner of this National Senior hockey forum) - is there anyway to help or amalgamate or join forces with this forum? Here is the link to the forum. You may have to cut and paste: www.nlhockeytalk.ca/hockey/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=11326

Wow.
Some of the misinformation and double talk on that site was highly questionable and I always felt some team & branch officials on that site would be better off NOT participating but never thought it would come to this.
Alberta SR AAA teams used to have a couple chat forums which were closed mainly due to the issues it caused for teams.
I can understand the rationale.

Well, as the owner of the NL site, I don't want to shut it down - I've spent a small fortune maintaining it for the love of the game.
I'm exploring options to either improve the product or at least provide an alternative.
The number 1 problem is with the anonymity that's afforded users. Our fans are passionate, pigheaded & sometimes just downright childish. At the end of the day it will be a loss unless something can be done.

Just to let everyone know, the forum will stay in operation. There has been an announcement made - new ownership or something happening. That's great news.
