People know I am a Blast fan. But I also know this series isn't going to be an easy one for them. Stoney Creek hasn't been defeated at home this season I believe and it opens up there.... My friend and I thought it was because we started out sitting in Don Cherry's for first couple of periods before going into the game. We're going to try Saturday night sitting in the arena for the whole game to see if that helps the Blast out. Stoney Creek has a strong team with 3 ex-Blast players on it as well as their coach. They are very quick. However, I believe Brantford has the better goaltender in Marshall (Leggett is injured). Prediction? To be honest, too close to call.

I'm clearly a blast fan as well so I'm going with Brantford in 7, I think this is going to be a very home ice advantage kind of series and Brantford will need to squeak one out in Stoney Creek to move on.

If last night's game was any indication, it is going to be a very good series. It looked like to me well over half of the crowd were Brantford fans who made the trip down the highway. Blast had a rough 1st period but then Marshall buckled down after letting in those 2 goalsperiod and had a great game. Svedin made some good saves as well for Stoney Creek. Blast were missing Prpic, Dietrich. And, I liked seeing the 2 referees and 2 linesmen.

Alberta SR AAA playoffs have been using 2 Ref system for a few years now.
Now...more than ever...I personally feel the second referee is an unnecessary expense.
Better off paying 2 reliable goal judges the amount of $$$ your paying the extra Ref.

totally agree...unless 2 refs work together all the time, they have different styles and it really can affect the flow and temperament of the game.

Great game tonight besides a Blast 5-3 loss. Caister hit the post with about 6 min left in the game which could've made it a different game. Excellent game on both sides and Svendin played an excellent game despite my criticism before the series. Pageau and Quaile really impressed me tonight as well.
Interestingly, Salmon challenged Sawyer twice on 2 separate shifts with more than 10 min left in the game then Sawyer acts tough with a few minutes left going after McCarthy carrying on with his antics.

Well, the other Army came out skating hard last night and pretty well kept it up through the game. Blast had moments of brilliance but just weren't consistent enough. Some people blame the referees (2 of the striped zebras again last night, some were saying the other Army is a dirty team -- they may all factor into it but it comes down to consistency. Prpic was back and made his presence felt with 2 goals and 1 assist. Couple of things at the game made me smile: the Blast's 3rd goal -- it rolled into the net. Svedin tried to stop it but it rolled past him. And a rumour someone told me at the game last night (and it came from a Blast fan)-- The Mighty Mole had signed with Brantford. May the Blast send the other Army to the trenches tonight in game 3.

There were also 3 times where Svendin knocked the net off when trouble was looming. The refs need to watch for that tactic. The Blast definitely put one in during the 2nd right after the net was off - it would've gone in regardless as the net was off just before the puck went in and there was another possible opportunity where the puck may have sneaked in during the 3rd but again the net was knocked off.
