SR AAA hockey will soon be breaking a gender barrier in Alberta! The Fort Sask Chiefs have announced signing Olympic Gold Medalist Shannon Szabados tonight.
She'd been playing professionally in USA for a few years before returning home earlier this fall. Took A few weeks to get the paper work done...but...I'm not going to be surprised when she does just fine at this level.

The Army went in to Fort Sask 2 weekends ago and scored 9 goals on 50+ SOG.
Szabados...was a Back-Up for the Chiefs yesterday afternoon...but...their next game is against ...none other than The Defending National Champions this coming Saturday.

that goalie for fort sask let in some pretty shabby goals ...sask could of used her then It's very difficult to project what level she's at based on her career stats. It's always tough to know what kind of team(s) a goaltender has been dealing with...but...she's had top level training and experience for a long time and I know Shannon is a respected hero in Fort Saskatchewan & throughout Alberta. I think it's terrific she's come into the CHL. I hope her team can wrangle some wins with her in et.

well the chiefs beat rosetown where stony could not Yes...Fort Sask has had a few decent games...they've not been a top contender for a few years but they're never a team to be taken lightly, either. Regarding the win over Rosetown...it did come less than 24 HRS after Rosetown had played in Stonyburgh....IMO...back<>back games often produce some surprising outcomes.

she played pretty good when the chiefs beat stony last sunday night.lots if big saves in third period,,you could tell smytty was getting frustraded as the game went on.deosnt seem like stony has any set lines yet,,next three up go out.they even putn one in their own net on delayed penalty, never seen that before

It doesn't seem like she will be playing very much. Shortly after signing with Fort Sask, Hockey Canada announced she will be returning to the National Womens' Team sometime in December. She didn't start against the Gens' in Fort Sask last week or Lacombe last night.

we'll see if she s between the pipes today against rosietown, the redwings sure have stonys number, they beat em all 4 times this year(the fist 2 i count as wins even though the standings dont)the blue eagles wont win too many more games if they keep taking silly penalties and only play for half a game
