Shame. That league almost didn't even get off the ground this season.

Only thing you can do is hope that the next few days the Flyers figure something else and the 3 teams will countinue on. If not the CWSHL Finals will start early.

As I said on the webcast this is NOT official. All stakeholders have meetings planned for the next few days. I expect we'll hear the outcome Tuesday or Wednesday.

LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENT ON COMPLETION OF SEASON AND GANDER FLYERS DIFFICULTIES
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE CWSHL - February 1,2017.
Further to indication to the League last weekend by the Gander Flyers organization that “due to revenue this season having fallen well below budgeted figures which resulted in a cumulating serious financial situation for the team”, the League, HNL and all teams have agreed that the remaining three weekends of scheduled games will not be played.
The Gander Flyers have received approval from the League and HNL that they will continue to be a member team of the League, but because of the financial inability at this date to continue the regular season scheduled games, will have those games forfeited by default. The teams who were to play those games will be awarded points for the games.
The season standings for the three teams , (which in fact will not result in any different standings than were in place up to the games played by the Cats and the Bous in Clarenville last weekend), is as follows: The Caribous take second place, the Flyers end in third, and the Cataracts in first.
Live hockey action for the League will start up again on Friday,February 24th with the beginning of the semi finals – Round One – of the Playoffs. The Playoff will begin as already scheduled at Clarenville, as the second place finisher from the regular season, between the Bous and Gander Flyers. Game two will be played at Gander's Steele Community Centre on Saturday,February 25th, with Game three, if necessary, back in Clarenville on Sunday afternoon,February 26th.
The crisis dealt with over these last few days was a “very close call” for the Flyers and the League. All parties are doubling down once again to keep Senior A hockey alive in all three communities and surrounding areas covered by the CWSHL . The upcoming playoffs and the fan turn out for all games will be a very important test.
As a result of games forefeitures by Gander Flyers, the suspension of Caribous player Justin Pender is directly impacted such that the League and HNL have approved that the four games that had been remaining against the Clarenville Caribous by the Flyers will be counted against the suspension, as the Caribous would otherwise have played the games. In combination with the two games played already by the Caribous following Justin Pender's six game suspension, the suspension will be considered met and Justin Pender will be available for play with the Caribous for the playoff Round One , now set to commence Friday,February 24th at Clarenville.
The League and teams want particularly to thank the Gander Flyers players for their patience and willingness to accept and do whatever was needed so the Flyers could continue to play. The League also adds its thanks to our loyal fans and public supprt shown for the Central West Senior Hockey League throughout this last week of uncertainty; and for the support for the League throughout the years. This League is for the fans and our included communities The League and teams also want to thank HNL for their co-operation in enabling solutions to be found for the unexpected crisis as it developed..
The League and teams are all non profit , volunteer organizations that only exist for the fans who love the League's fast, skilled brand of senior hockey. We are dedicated - all teams and League - to continuing; and are hopeful that we grow from this season's experiences as a first-ever season operating as a three team league
