You are dead on Wade. Magee was an treat to watch. But my assessment of him is he is not a team player. His body language tells all when his teammates don't give him the biscuit. And I also think the Refs pick up something on him and sheen early in the tournament and they never got the calls they were "Selling".

Complete whiner every time he was sent to the box and most cases were blantantly obvious he was at fault. It tells you something when other members of his team are disgusted by it. Good player but the gens are a classier organization without this guy....

I was only able to watch a few minutes of the Gens' tournament via the video broadcast. And I've yet to see the Finals.
IMO...no matter how horseshit the Reffing was during AC2017...(and I'd bet the barn it was a total gong show) ...Magee could've played HIS game and been among the best players in the tournament.
I've seen nearly all the big playmakers who were in New Brunswick last week and I would say on skill & toughness, Magee is as good or better than any of them. And, Yes, even though he's a bit undersized he IS legit tough. That's why it's so frustrating watching such a great player have such a hard time with Reffing. He gets caught up in a mind game he can't win...meanwhile...the game he COULD totally own...ends up being forgotten about.

There is zero tough about 2 handing a guy in the face.

There is zero tough about 2 handing a guy in the face. No there isn't. But he doesn't need to use his stick as an axe. I've seen him drop opponents, 20-50LBS bigger than him with straight-up, honest bodily contact. He feeds off this when he's "on".

I'm not making excuses for Stoney Creek but they did seem competitive based on the scores of their games.
I'm not sure why scoring was an issue - perhaps they lack some size and grit which I noted before Ontario playoffs.
I do know that several of their players impressed me much more than Matthew Bragg when he was on Dundas but stats wise anyway he looks to have had a strong tournament.
Stoney Creek looks like they got top notch goaltending in Brown.

Luke Gallant took 8 stitches for that. Gallant was also slashed very hard by Sheen on his hands, Luckily it caught most of the padding on his glove.

So, if I've got this rignt... The Army will be using a "donated" back-up goaltender against the Cats? Because Hockey Canada confiscated Stanford. Riiiiight... any-hoo... Cats should take this one in a breeze. i'll just leave this here..... Under Players in 2016-17 Hockey Canada articles and by-laws: F.30. Players participating with a Team at a CCAA, CIS, NJCAA or NCAA institute of education after January 10 of the current Season shall be ineligible for participation with a Hockey Canada Team for the remainder of that Season (does not apply to Female Hockey other than Teams participating in League, Regional and National playoffs leading to the ESSO Cup). p.80

The Army could have easily found a different B-37...or...requested to bring an Emergency Goalkeeper to NB. Jacob Deserres was/is legitimately injured. Otherwise he would have been in NB. The Gens' also had Jeff Drouin Deslauriers on their roster (he had dressed as a back-up during gamen2 of Alberta Finals) and they also had former NHLer, Allen York as an AP. But...none of these guys were brought to NB because we all thought Steven Stanford was admissible as a B-37.

Thought....but were wrong as clearly spelled out in the rules. You sound like a guy who complains about getting a speeding ticket because he hadn't been stopped all the other times he drove over the speed limit. In addition you can't start an "emergency" goalie and leave the "starter" on the bench like Lacombe did. Seems like the Generals got their hand caught in the cookie jar. Just like Ile de Chenes did last year thanks to an email from a certain team.

This is 2 years in a row now that lacombe has been caught cheating , and they have not been punished, but when lacombe catches another team with an ilegal player they send a chicken shit email during warm up and demand that team be thrown out of the tournament. seems a bit two faced to me.

caught is right. not to mention all the other illegal players they had on their roster - had to write to get permission from hockey canada again for their lineup. The problem I have is that when you have an illegal player they are illegal - its easy. no complaints. no rechecks. it is what it is. its in the rules and nothing is apparent. check the page Wade and stop complaining. there is no spin on this one. suck it up and move on.
the worst thing is this organization with the resources they have and player pool to draw on shouldnt even have to break the rules to win. but i guess that is the way they roll
