Without any inside information...my guesses would be...Wilkie, Shellbrook or maybe a resurrection of LBK. I would think Shellbrook and Bethune would be two teams to count in Rosetown has already announced they've committed to participating in the entire ACHW playoffs this spring. While this doesn't confirm Rosetown will be the only SR AAA team in SK for 2018, IMO, it could be taken as one hint toward this being the case. I hope it's not the case. I hope to see at least ONE team step up to contest along with Rosetown...but...if someone else intends to do so...they're doing it under a cloak of secrecy.

Would Saskatchewan hold a Senior AAA provincial tournament if it doesn't mean anything as far as Allan Cup qualifier spots? Rosetown would be in as host, Bethune would qualify using the Quebec spot which goes to the host branch and Manitoba's champion would earn the West spot in the tournament as they wouldn't have to play the Saskatchewan champion in the Rathgaber Cup.
If Rosetown participated in the ACHW playoffs, would Alberta have to have a separate provincial playoff since it would not be a true provincial playdown? If Rosetown won the playoffs I assume the runner-up would play the BC champ/rep (so far West Coast Heat)for the McKenzie Cup/Pacific spot.

From past practice that would be the likely Saskatchewan scenario Alberta has had separate Allan Cup provincials in the past where there were Alberta teams outside of the Chiniook league but Would make more sense to send the runner up if Rosetown won

The ACHW league playoffs will be separate from the Allan Cup provincials
The league playoffs will be a weekend tournament while the Alan Cup playoffs will be the full seven game semi final and Finals

So Bethune gets a free pass to the allan cup , how many of their players from last year are capable of this level , 2 maybee 3.

Wilkie and Gull Lake have both had good runs in provincials the past few years and a short trip for the Cup might be enough to entice one of them to give it a try (I didn't say they would be competitive but logic seems to go out the window in some cases) . Wade had also mentioned the Lloydminster Border Kings as a possible entry. Look at the mess of teams that tried last year in New Brunswick (and two of them have apparently folded completely going into this season).

But definitely less than a full rosters' worth, based on last years line-up. However, Saskatchewan DOES have more high end SR players than just what we've seen with Rosetown. I DO think it's within the rhelm of do-able for Saskatchewan to assemble TWO competitive SR AAA teams. Remains to be seen if that actually happens...

There is still time to register (Aug 15 for most of the country) You would think it would be attractive for someone else to step up with only having to face Bethune to get a spot (Assuming Quebec not in) There are a lot of players for Rosetown and Bethune to pick from and I fully expect them to ice a competive team

Lameque relocated to Dieppe while Bouctouche still has a team.

I see the 3 time Champs have already amended their website to reflect some key moves they've made this off season:
Curtis Austring will be relieved by longtime Gens' Captain & former UofC Dinos' Associate Coach, Sean Robertson in the role of HEAD COACH. Austrings' family is due to grow by one this winter & he wanted/needed the winter off.
The Army also has 2 key pieces from the 2016 Championship roster returning: Kyle Bailey & Nathan Deck.
Plus, they've gonna ahead & made Goaltender, Steven Stanford an official member of the squad...apparently rounding out their goaltending situation.
About a month to go until camps open up....
Seems to be a growing sense Innisfail has the inside track on being named 2019 Allan Cup Host.
And expect a few more names dropped around Alberta & Sask in the coming weeks.
