Partial Hypothetical and serious question. Have any US based teams made any noise recently about playing at the Senior AAA level? (Yes, I know it's very unlikely)
The only leagues I have heard anything on down here are the Black Diamond Hockey League (based out of Utah, Idaho, and Montana) and the proposed Independent Developmental Hockey League (with proposed teams to be based out of New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware).
What would it take for an American team to be eligible to compete for the Allan Cup? I know teams from Warroad, MN and Spokane, WA have in fact won the Allan Cup. Would they simply have to register with Hockey Canada, and become part of a provincial hockey Association (to be able to participate in a provincial/regional qualifier)?
Would they have to get USA Hockey approval as well?
Let's say a team from Burlington, Vermont is put together, registers with Hockey Canada and Hockey Quebec, at this point would that be a free pass to the Allan Cup? And could they bid to host the event their second season (as a team has to be registered Senior AAA the previous season to host the tournament).

Warroad was playing in the Manitoba League when they won it Warroad tried getting back into the Manitoba league years later and were refused Spokane was playing in the BC league
Burlington would have to be playing in a Quebec league to even have a chance of qualifying I think they could also be denied being able to go AAA until their second year of operation
The Allan Cup host used to alternate East West but at the moment it is rotating through each branch

Cool idea. Interested to see if anything happens in that regard.

Great idea...especially if it could give Senior AAA hockey more solid footings. Here in Ontario...imagine a team in Buffalo or Rochester...the cross border competition would be interesting.

It's doubtful you'd find an amateur American team capable to compete with most SR AAA teams.
But...I know The Army has been approached (multiple times) by semi-pro teams from USA, regarding possible exhibition games & were always willing to oblige...provided travel costs be covered...and that was the blunt end of it. Haha
The other somewhat recent variation of this was when Rosetown Red Wings were playing a NCAA III team out of Williston (I think)

I went to Rosetown,s first weekend series against Williston. They are a junior college and not quite Div111. They draw from the Junior B teams and some tier 2 junior
Was a fun weekend. Grabbed a Pats game and then did the drive to Williston ND It is an Oil town and no accommodations within a couple hrs I took my tent and was told state park would be open for tent provided their was no snowfall. Managed to find a cancellation on a hotel
