BC Hockey Executive Committee has approved Powell River as the host site for the 2012 BC Senior Male AAA Championship, to be held March 22-26, 2012. I believe it has all been said, the awarding of the Savage Cup to Powell River is just rewarding and perpetuating the constant jumping in and out of AAA Senior Hockey. When is Hockey Canada and the local Provincial Branches going to pull their heads out of wherever they have them stuck and get a handle on the situation. Was FSJ turned down because they've hosted it for the last 4 years. Considering that they're the only legit AAA team in BC and continue to be, what's the issue. Powell River has hosted 11 of the last 16 and also had a stretch of 9 straight years as host. It seems a little like rewarding a spoiled child for bad behaviour when FSJ gets turned down and PR, newly back in the AAA ranks, gets the SC.

Agree with you whole heartedly hockeypops! Another BRUTAL decision by BC Hockey!!! Could have at least stretched the series to a best of 7 and split it between the two teams.

In early September FSJ was informed they where the only AAA team in BC and would host the Mackenzie Cup April 5th to 9th. Three weeks later the news came that somehow Powell River had got AAA status and that the 2 teams would have to put in a bid to host the Savage Cup and now lone behold Powell River has been named host of the Savage Cup! Unexplainable!!!

Unexplainable!!! I believe this has been touched on before. Most Provincial bodies govening AAA Hockey allow a team to declare AAA status, I believe into October. The exception to the rule is the Chinook League who delare in July. The major difference being that you can't wait to see what kind of a team you have, then make a last minute decision, but rather, you're commited to AAA hockey and working at. If you have to "Wait" until you see who's coming, you haven't put much effort into it. The reality is many teams in Alberta aren't 100% sure who's commited as a player either, but they keep working at it, knowing they need to be competative. The results speak for themselves, anyone getting out of the Chinook League as the AAA Champion had better be damn good. Just look at what's happening this year.

flyer, someone obviously jumped the gun in early Sept. or misinterpreded . BC deadline is clearly Oct. 15. That being said ,still makes no sense PRR will host the Savage Cup.
