Still trying to find out the format on who gets the Allan Cup spot between Brantford and Whitby. Brantford is saying it is highest regular season standing Unless this was stated preseason I imagine Whitby would have some objection to this
Will post as soon as I have answer

Brantford don't deserve to be in the cup this year

I may have made a mistake in assuming that Quebecs spot is going to Ontario
In the past the spot has almost always gone to the host branch but last year was an exception in that instead of giving it to host branch Alberta which would have meant almost the entire league was in the cup it was given to Man/Sask negating the need for an inter provincial playoff between Man and Sask
If i had to guess, and its only a guess the only way that Brantford or Whitby gets into the Cup is by winning the Ontario Championship If they dont win the spot goes to Sask/Man and Rosetown goes to the Cup directly and the other spot will be the Manitoba Champion of either South East or Norway House
Again this is only speculation

Nice to see that they really have this whole thing planned out ahead of time. With two host teams they should have said something a lot earlier. Oh wait a second we are talking about the Hockey Canada's senior council may be they will announce the tournament format in late March. They knew in September that there were no teams competing from Quebec and they could have said that back then that Brantford and Whitby will only qualify if they win the ACH championship or it goes to another branch. With only 11 teams originally competing (and two teams automatically qualifying) how much thought do you have to put into it? I understand teams drop out during the season as has happened during past few years but start with a plan!
They should have modified the regions for the most part this year and had Innifail, Stony Plain, and Rosetown play a for one spot, the three (now two) Manitoba teams play for the second spot, Haut-Madawaska qualify due to their remoteness to other teams qualifying, and have the further advancing of Brantford and Whitney in ACH playoffs qualify or play a best-of-three series if they both lost in the semifinals for the fourth spot.
This is another case of senior hockey being a joke to Hockey Canada. Is the conception of senior hockey dying? Very likely, but you don't euthanize something that has be around as long as senior hockey in general and the Allan Cup specifically. A history of World Champions which have competed for Canada on the global stage at the World Championships and the Olympics. Is it in the past, yes but you can't make a simple decision with enough forward planning, if this was still for deciding who would be playing for Team Canada there would be outrage. Does the senior council really exist? Wouldn't you think at least one member of it would be posting on this board from time to time with announcements or looking at the pulse of senior hockey in general on this site or other sites like Newfoundland Hockey Talk or Wicked Deadly (the Saskatchewan Senior site). Being on a board like that your first responsibility is to nurture and protect the game at the senior level, not ignore it like it is a somehow beneath you.
Does anyone how to get on the Senior Council? It almost looks like the time is ripe for a coup d'etat. and have the Senior AAA teams get organized and run itself as a loose association similar to major junior.
Have each region try to create one league with say BC and Alberta having their own divisions within the Pacific Senior Hockey League and have it as a limited schedule with say the teams playing one or two weekends a month (and players being available for lower level teams the other weekends and the division champions being the provincial champions and then they meet the other champion for an Allan Cup spot or play the Western Champion for a spot in an east-west final. Do the same for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Keep Ontario as one region but encourage Northern Ontario and Eastern Ontario to join in and be their own divisions. Maybe combine Quebec and the Maritimes into a four or five division league and have the champion be the fourth spot in the Allan Cup or have them play Ontario.
See does that really take that much for thought?
Sorry for another rant but this is getting very old.

Who's running the show then at the national level for Senior AAA then?
I've been following senior AAA and senior hockey in general for about five or six years and it keeps to be getting more and more of a hodgepodge on how qualifying gets done. I know lack of entries from regions don't help in the qualifying process; but it's known there is x number of teams in the running in September. Make a decision on how the qualifying works then and adapt if you have to. But make a plan not knowing what the plan is from the word go is ridiculous. I have no problem with the teams closer to the tournament having a better chance of qualifying as it would be cheaper overall on expenses. I know expenses have killed teams off but a lack of direction in a rudderless ship doesn't help at all.
The two host team plan has thrown a monkey wrench in to what has been done in recent years; but put if you announce that Brantford or Whitby will only qualify if they win the ACH playoff championship and if they don't it goes to the Western Region at least that's a plan and you know what your route to qualifying is going to be and that's fair as it was announced before everyone started playing.

From what I understood, Brantford or Whitby would have to win the Robertson Cup first. If either one of them win the ACH League Championship, they go to the Allan Cup. If they don't, then a team from out West will get the spot.

In the 2019 Cup in Alberta the Spot end up going to Sask/Man This meant that there was no need for Manitoba having to travel to Saskatchewan for the Rathgaber Cup
This was likely the plan this year as well but you have two host teams that get into the Cup and you cant very well deny the Ontario Champion a spot in the Cup if Whitby or Brantford win it
If Brantford or Whitby dont win then it likely goes to Saskatchewan/Manitoba which would mean there is no need for Manitoba to playoff against Rosetown.
Rosetown would advance directly to the Cup and the other spot would be the Manitoba champ of either Norway House or South East That playoff series starts Feb 29 with South East making the 9 hour trip North to Norway House

No Idea I would assume someone high up in Hockey Canada It was the provincial Senior Chairs that were disbanded

this makes PERFECT sense...just award a spot to SK...who will have played ZERO games all year in order to qualify.

No Idea I would assume someone high up in Hockey Canada It was the provincial Senior Chairs that were disbanded The teams basically get together and throw suggestions into an old milk pail and slosh it around with some slough water, pour it on the ground & whatever papers are floating face-up in the puddle...that’s what they go with. Good system if you don’t mind getting your feet wet.
