The Haut-Madawaska Panthers asked and were granted a one-year leave of absence from the circuit Régional de hockey due to a lack of players available because of COVID-19 restrictions.
The Panthers have players who live in Quebec and Maine (both are only about 15 minutes away) and are unable to cross the border to play. The team in Temiscouata, Quebec was also forced to take a year off.
League play started with five teams on Dec. 5, but the health zone where all teams are located went into the orange phase on December 10th, putting all games on pause for at least two weeks.

Hockey Canada released the deadline date of Jan.1 for teams wishing to play in National Championship play ( Allan Cup , Junior A , and U-18 male/female. So teams have to register outside of their leagues to be eligible to play for the Allan/Centennial/Esso/Telus Cups?
I don't envision any teams registering for the Allan Cup this year, all but two of the teams from last year's qualifying are sitting out the 2020-21 season and those two teams have already had their provincial championship cancelled (Manitoba, with Ile-des-Chenes and South East Prairie Thunder).
Not that at this rate it will be likely any of the national championships will be held in Canada this year.

AAA Senior teams have historically registered through their respective Branches and not as leagues per se. The request that I posted was aimed at the Branches to indicate interest in the AC and name the teams that would compete. IdC North Stars have not participated for about 4 years. Norway House and St.Anne Aces have been the most recent teams to compete with SEPT.
