This special treatment by BC Hockey in the past with Mr James and now presently Mr Fraser is one of the reasons there is no Sr hockey in the southern part of the province and here in the interior. BC Hockey has favoured Powell River so much it ended up killing other teams.
Powell River should not be allowed to host even if Fort did the last so many years. Fort has been running AAA for years now and have to travel to PR. And we all know that Powell River will pick up every top notch player in Vancouver give them some $$$ for coming out. All for a 2 to 3 week season. How much travel and games have Fort done as a team this year already playing a league games.
And as for Powell River in 2013, you can bank of them getting it. Unless, I wonder would BC Hockey give the Allan Cup to a brand new team if one started up and was going to do a ONE and DONE team. uhmmm.

There are things that should happen and things that shoudnt and this was one of them , it was a bad call. The Flyers will be okay but it dosent make it right. As you quite often will do, Poorview, you neglected to consider a broad perspective here. And your remiss of a few details, too. In fact...if you do some back-reading... your going to find I was the first poster on this forum to bring Bob James name into a discussion, questioning his rulings as BC SR Hockey Counsel. And I've stated many times since then that I feel BC SR Hockey needs new & improved governing. And at the moment...there is a new person in charge. Not by my doing...but...there IS a new Counsellor in place and I feel new leadership deserves a chance to at least learn the ropes before I throw him out of the ring. And again...I DID say that I can understand FSJ's frustration on the matter. I am just NOT sure this is an open & shut example of FSJ getting gouged...or PR getting favorite treatment on the other end. It COULD be a case of one or both. It may also NOT be the case in either. Consider: FSJ DID host the Savage Cup just last year. And although I don't think this fact alone should disqualify them from host priviledges in 2012...I do think its important for decisions to be made in a manner which might protect the chance of having AT LEAST one other BC SR AAA team return to play again next year. Because...to be honest...FSJ doesn't have it all that bad when you look back to 2007. In fact...2007 might be the ONLY year where they had to travel for everything. And that was their first year at SR AAA. Furthermore, because there are only TWO BC teams competing and BC will host the 2012 Mac Cup...someone in BC was going to end up with the chance to advance all the way to the Allan Cup without ever firing up the bus. Ultimatley...that golden opportunity was placed in PR's hands. And...again...thats not ideal or 100% sensible...but...the only other thing to do was give it to FSJ and if thats what ended up happening...someone would be complaining that FSJ had been handed EVERYTHING on a platter three years in a row! Because by electing NOT to register at the SR AAA level...the Regals actually have done FSJ a gigantic favor a couple of times in the past. And by posting the SR AAA bond for 2012..the Regals really only ended up putting FSJ on the bus for ONE official travel requirement(s) this entire season. Thats not THAT bad, guys. Come on! Not too many teams elsewhere in the nation get that kind of a luxury.

Wade I didnt miss any details , frank gets and I know you get it. Again if it happened to your gens you would be pissed , everyone on this site knows that. I will say it again powell may not break any rules but they push every button they can, and as far as they can , and mayby good for them , I think its chicken s---, but they can do it . This is another example of why senior hockey is very fast disapering. A team plays no games signs players for three weekends and wonder why they have no one to play . BC hockey even with the change is no different. Yes FSJ hosted last year and it was a huge joke, one team booted out and both were not even close to triple AAA level , but you and BC hockey say they hosted , they should get it this year just beacuse last year was such a joke, not even that Powell doesnt deserve it.

First of all...this isn't my first BBQ.
And facts are this: 99 times out of a 100...SR AAA teams, ANYWHERE, in Canada will NOT end up hosting ANYTHING in consecutive seasons.
One could even argue that out of all the bullshit that Hockey Canada gets WRONG with this whole show...the ONE thing they get right (kinda) is sticking true to alternating venues for Inter-Provincial & Provincial Series/Tournaments.
At the very least we know who will NOT be hosting certain events in certain seasons.
It doesn't always work out the way it maybe "should"...but...its a framework for CONSISTENCY and I very strongly believe thats a virtue we all need to value in order for better structure/integrity to take form across the SR AAA map.
And it doesn't matter that last years' Savage Cup was a "joke". Shit happens. It was FSJ's tournament. It didn't go well. I get that.
But the bottom line is...As long as someone else with a credible pedigree stepped up this season...FSJ was never going to get any kind of "do-over" in 2012.
And don't get me wrong...we can haggle over whether or not Powell River Regals actually have said "credible pedigree". In fact...we don't even need to haggle over it. I will admit, point blank,a lot of what they've masterminded with past & present versions of their team is a total farce. No denying it.
The Regals' pick & choose when they post the SR AAA bond & although the rules permit them to do so...its bothersome. Even worse that they register a AA & AAA team under the same name in the same town as a dual purpose enterprise. This is all bogus. I agree!
Its dirty pool. Played with a silky cut off the 9 ball. They've one upped the Flyers' this time around.
Maybe the Flyers should have kept their hands off Andrew Derton?
Don't poke the bear.
