Carstairs Coyotes, now the Coyotes Hockey Club as they were unable to secure the ice times needed in Carstairs, have been granted AAA status.
It’s been a tough start for them so far, as it’s their first venture into the Chinook and stacking up against a good Innisfail and Stony squad is a bit of an eye opener for them I’m sure. Hopefully they can bring in some more guys and learn from the other two teams what it will take to be competitive.

Unfeotuanlty HA bylaws state you have to play a year in a lower division before you can go AAA status. So to a degree you are correct, however from my understanding they have been given a spot in AA provs whenever they announce a host location. AA this year and AAA next year. The Chinook league is designed to be a AA and AAA league, just like in the old days.

That was the original plan from my knowledge as well, however, it appears they no longer have the offer for the AA provincials and can affiliate AA carded players. Then again, senior is all a mess everywhere and it could change tomorrow! Haha

Looks like lokol was spot on with the news. Coyotes will be registered as AAA in alberta. Will be allowed to affiliate AA players, however won’t be eligible for an Allan cup or Mackenzie cup. Just provincials it sounds like. But that could change lol
Man has HA really gone against their own bylaws the past two years.

Will be interesting, hearing rumblings of some more teams joining the fray next season. Including a close to Calgary option.

Calgary area needs a team. Would make senior hockey at that level way more representative. I’m sure they would welcome new teams with open arms. Obviously they would need their stuff all in order for that to happen.
How is out east doing? Anyone got any news on Ontario and east coast?
