I know its' not Senior AAA but:
Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the Herder Memorial Trophy will be contested in an east-west format for the first time since 2008. The winners of the Avalon East Senior and West Coast Senior Leagues will meet in a best-of-seven series for the provincial championship.
Game 1: April 14 @ WCSHL champion Game 2: April 15 @ WCSHL champion Game 3: April 20 @ AESHL champion Game 4: April 21 @ AESHL champion Game 5: April 22 @ AESHL champion if necessary
Game 6: April 28 @ WCSHL champion if necessary Game 7: April 29 @ WCSHL champion if necessary
The WCSHL has three teams and finishes its regular season on March 10th with playoffs to follow.
The AESHL has six teams and finished its' regular season about on the 19th and are in their quarterfinal round which should finish up over the next day or two. The semifinal and final rounds will be best-of-seven series.
With the issues senior hockey has had in Newfoundland over the past several years this is a very positive sign for hopefully better and more stable days ahead.
It is also a great sign also that Port-aux-Basques was able to put a team together this year with how hard hit they were by Hurricane Fiona.
