Generals worked their ass off but couldn't buy a goal. Congrats to Horse Lake, well deserved. Stony has their work cut out for them for damn sure.

Considering the Gens outshot HL about 55 to 26 or so (didn't see the final count) they certainly deserved a better fate but Weslosky was on fire in net for HL and that was the difference. The Gens couldn't get a bounce, deflection, wobble or rebound to go their way and they controled an easy 65% of the action in the HL end, I'm sure it was frustrating.

Funny thing is...had the Gens won tonite...they would have probably not had to worry about Weslosky for the remainder of the series.
He was slated to miss the remainder of the series for other commitments.
It turns out that won't be a problem. The NYI draft pick was perfect tonite and for the first time since 2006...The Bentley Generals will NOT be Alberta Provincial Champions.
Obviously, when you take 59 SOG's, not every one of them is a great shot. There were several from long range which the Gens were trying to set up for a deflection or a rebound. Unfortunatley, the eye-hand settings were not quite dialled in tonite and all of those "shot-passes" ended up as easy saves.
Make no mistake, there were more than enough ten bell opportunities where Wesloky made hi-lite reel saves. Not to mention a couple of dings on posts/cross bars.
But when its all said & done...HL is definatley the real deal. They deserved to win the series. Maybe just not quite so quickly. The Gens deservd wins (IMO) in games 1 & 5. The Gens also out-shot HL in every game of the series.
We knew there was trouble brewing when HL scored in OT of game one. That was the first Provincial home loss since game 1 of round in in 2009 against the Gens dynasty.
Ultimatley, Its not all the difficult to tip my Jofa to a team like the 2012 Chiefs. They made hustle plays, they made skill plays and I can't think of a time where they ever really handed their opponents anything easy in this series.

The gens can stash their playoff cash to put on a good show 2013 hosting Allan.
Every team needs a goalie to take you to the end...start looking now!!

Explain the playoff cash you think they have to stash. The playoffs are where you finally get a chance for some proper gates, but when the series ends early and you don't get to the next series, it's just expense. For those of you dillusional enough to think there is money made by ownership in Senior Hockey - give your head a shake.

I shook my head 5 years ago. I know the difference between NOT making playoffs and paying out of your own pocket to pay the bills at the end of the season all to well!
I was reading some chatter that the Gens team has been the same for a few years now, with success I might add, and for certain will rebuild to host next year...who wouldn't!
Saying that, it 'usually' cost a little more to entice players of higher quality to come play for the season OR get them to commit to a December or January timeline. Either way...it's going to cost.
The cash i was referring to was the cash that would fly, bus or stage coach them, feed and clothe them to the next series now with or without big gates or any gates to rely on...if there was any money at all left, find a goalie!!!
