Now that the six teams have been decided, let's hear who the star players might be from the six teams. A star player in my mind, is a player who can carry a team, not just on the score sheet, but in a leadership capacity as well.

We just finished with Rosetown so ....
G - J Harvey will be one of the top goalies next week for sure. He was 3-1 with a 2.00 GAA and a 0.938 SV % in the provincial final against Balgonie. FWD - J Jagow is extremely fast and skilled. A pure goal score but doesn't necessarily like to go to the "tough" areas. Dman - S Germain is just a great defencemen. One of the best i've seen at this level. Played about 35 minutes a game against Balgonie. Controls the game. Great skater. FWDS - JJ Hunter, B Twordik and D Beuker. They are all great. Twordik was unbelievable on face-offs. Probably won 70% against Mike Sillinger.
Rosetown will be tough to beat. My prediction is ........... they don't lose a game and are crowned champs next Saturday.

For the South East Prairie Thunder anytime you can put Ryan Bonni, and Burke Henry on the ice it's a good thing. The experience, puck moving ability will be a huge asset to the Thunder.
In Stony Plain it looks like if Blair Zahara, and Justin Cox are going so are the Eagles. They will both be very tough to handle.

LBK has a star player, literally.
Aaron Starr. For real.
End of thread.

Wade since you seen the host LBK play this year who are the guys to watch. They have several. The Generals beat LBK in the CHL League Finals when LBK did not have their top line which is led by Steve Da Silva. He is a difference maker. And Im not ONLY being a smart ass when I mentioned Aaron Starr. He is one of LBK's most talented players. A specimen. And he can shoot. The 'Kings 'D' is maybe not quite as strong as Rosetowns'. However, they do have Giffen Nyren and he's bound to impress. He was in the AHL with the Flames affiliate. And under the layer of leading talent, Lloyd has a nice mix of speed, checking specialists and grit. All in front of Westblom who can be as good as any goalie in this field when he is on. Much too much has been made of the fact LBK lost out early in SHA Provincials. Sure, it cost them a couple weeks of opportunity to stay sharp....but...FSJ played even less tough games in 2010 before barnstorming the entire tournament. I think LBK could potentially do the same if they catch fire early in the week.

Forwards: Aaron Starr will be their star player... if Staniforth uses him appropriately. Starr was on the 4th line for the Rosetown series. He has been one of the elite players in Saskatchewan for the past 4 years.
Derek Allan, Josh Sim, and Steven DaSilva are the top line but of the 3 Sim is the most impressive all around. DaSilva is lazy but give him room in the slot and youll pay.
Defense: Dallyn Fallscheer is still elite. Giffen Nyren is VERY high risk/high reward. He is most noticeable Border King, very flashy and very good offensively. I predict hell be best offensive d-man of tourney
Goal: Westbloom is 50/50. If hes good, hes good, if hes bad he has no confidence. Get to him early and Lloyd is done as their backup is not AAA caliber

Just some information on GFW team members, im very suprised to see they did not take full advantage of the affiliate rule. Anyone on there league team that wanted to make the trip will be going and they filled in the holes after.
Affiliates
4 Woods, Brad D - Big defencemen who is hard to handle just due to his size alone.
13 Deroisers, Ryan F - League leading scorer, Playing the the Caribous this season after finishing off a strong CIS career. This guy is not flashy but always finds a way to put the puck in the net.
26 Thomey, Matthew F - Class act all the way, played college hockey at Yale and was a member of the allan cup winning Carbous team last year.
39 Dyke, Mike D - strong steady puck moving D man who is great in any situation. Also a member of the Caribous winning team from last season.
Players im suprised not to see on ths team.
Andrew Sweetland F - AHL experience last season Brandon Roach D - AHL experience and best D man in the Allan Cup last year with the Carbous Steve Yetman F - Played last season in Europe and was top 5 in scoring this season. Chris Hulit F - Also top 5 n scoring and played CIS last season.
SO before Wade starts talking about an allstar team from NL this not the case.
The players below are GFW regulars who all have major junior or CIS experience for the most part. Some played junor A.
They will be the fastest and most conditioned team in the tourney for sure. IF they can go deep they will be hard to beet.
10 Brennan, Andrew F 14 Roach, Cody F 15 Earle, Chad F 16 Gill, Andre F 17 Oake, Mitch F 18 Pearson, Steve F 19 Theriault, Nick D 20 Sibley, Mike F 24 Quinn, Matt F 25 Philpott, David F 27 Whitehead, Tyler F 31 Yetman, Mark G 41 Welcher, Wes F 55 LaPointe, Martin

They asked some of the players you listed above but could not make a commitment to it. There are also a couple more players that have played higher up like chris peach who played pro and aj whiffen played at university of regina for a couple of years

SEPT is coming into their fourth tournament in a row. Since 2009 we've become accustomed to the tranquil intervention of Ryan Smith. His playmaking made a big time impression on me in Steinbach.
Its been not quite as much to marvel at the past two years. Especially in Kenora...his conditioning didn't appear quite enough.
But he's still a guy I think you will want to pay close attention to and the Manitoba reps' look to have a deeper more invested roster to support their Captain this time around.

SEPT also have Steve Crampton, and the two older guys Brad Purdie, and Terry Yake. Assuming Purdie makes the trip, he might be one of the best forwards in the Allan Cup.
Wade I seen DaSilva play with the UofS, and the guy is a pure goalscorer. I wonder if LBK would consider putting him with Clayton, I mean Clayton, his numbers speak for themselves.
JJ Hunter, Jarod Jagow, and Evan Schwabe might be the best line in the AC. Schwabe is good... really good.

Nyren, LBKs top scorer, ended the regular season with 29 points in 21 games, the APs, DaSilvia 23 for 10, Allen 17 for 8 and Starr 13 for 7. These last three averaging 1.9 to 2.3 points per game. I would be hard pressed to suggest line changes are a good thing that will add points on the clock. Top scorer is 1.3 ppg as a comparison.

And if every line was drawn based upon calculations like these, then you could be a coach, 'pops. We know its not that simple. FWIW...I think the Davidson line will remain intact. Look for Clayton & Starr to play together.

Lloyd also has Aki Seitsohen, who is also a very good player. hockeypops you can't go by stats all the time. I just thought LBK might want to spread the scoring out.
