I would think it is only fair if you have to play a two game total goal series because you could not finish six point ahead in the regular seasonj that you must defeat your opponent by six goals in the two game series or have to play another two games series

Its ridiculous...you play the entire reg season to MAKE the playoffs...then you have to lay the team you beat out in a ridiculous 2 games total goals series...what's the point?

Maybe it was a "sweetheart deal" to help entice the expansion team into the league?

There is a reason you are called God. And maybe God just gave it a little thought before he spoke, and good for him.

wow...really?
That's pretty sad. Hey Welland, thanks for joining, but if you're not competitive, too bad...try harder next year. This sham completely eliminates any relevancy the regular season may have had. why even play a schedule? Why not do what half the other federations do, then, and have every eligible team just challenge for Montague's Grail?
Was the league that desperate for a 5th team that they felt compelled to forsake the entire regular season and guarantee the new guys an undeserved playoff shot?

I can understand giving Welland a "2nd chance" at playoff hockey in their inaugural season. It is tough to ice a competitive team right out of the gate. And if they happened to be better at the end of their first year than they were at the start I don't think anyone would be surprised by that.
That being said...
I also think there could have been a more conventional solution.
Assuming its relatively safe to ballpark who the bottom 2 teams might be, the ACH could have considered back loading most of the regular season games between the weaker teams closer to the end of the schedule.
The CHL has done this with reliable success for quite a few years.
This way, we get some of the blow out games out of the way early in the year and

...cont....we also create a reliable chance to have late season games between teams actually chasing each other in the standings.
The argument against this is...it might be a presumptuous stretch to trust pre-season guess work...based on past season performances...but....really what's the worst that could happen if the guessing doesn't translate? Nothing really.

wow...really? If there was deal with Welland that they had a shot at playoffs i missed the Board meeting and didn't miss any ! We showed some creativity if there where teams close in the standings. Had there been a huge gap there was no playoffs . Agree or not both Niagara Jr B and C league let everyone in the layoffs and have. For some time . Don Robertson That's pretty sad.
