Gens take the opener in impressive fashion, 6-1 final. Both teams are feeling some playoff strains as guys come & go from the line ups with assorted injuries. I don't think either team wants to take the chance of pushing guys too hard in a series which nobody "needs" to win from an Allan Cup point of view. It makes more sense to take precautionary measures without hesitation. This is even easier to do for Bentley...because they're blessed with so much depth...each injury leads to a opportunity for another ringer. For the Eagles' its a bit different. Yes...they're home & cooled...qualified for AC13...but...they don't have a whole lot to choose from in the way of "healthy scratches." And maybe their biggest worry on the bus ride home tonight will be the status of Wade Waters...theiur MVP goalie. Waters left the game after The Army scored #5 on the night in the 2nd period. Not sure the exact nature of his injury but if he can't go tommorow night...well...lets just say nobodu even knew they HAD a backup goalie until tonight.... One other note...the Eagles stickwork was very obvious late in the game. And a couple of their guys were clearly NOT interested in playing hockey. Refs' gotta' be quick to nip that stuff right away...handing out 10's and sending offenders to the showers. Teams who have full control of the puck, having played their way into honest-earned big lead, shouldn't have to deal with that BS every single shift through the last 20 minutes.
