Great game...lots of energy...Holy CRAP are Steinbach ( I refuse to call the Southeast Prarie Thunder...how silly!) FAST...they have 2 little bowling ball speedsters on each line, with one bigger winger (Big aggressive D, too)...man those guys activate fast and also press at C and really force you to make decisions quickly in your own end...case in point...3 unassisted goals...2 on bad turnovers by McCoys dmen, and a penalty shot.
Dundas were getting out-played early, and do not have the speed to match the Thunder...they are built for size to dominate that bandbox rink. so Dundas, to the credit of the coaching staff, changed tactics...they jammed up the neutral zone and started going hard to the net...3 of 4 goals were off second chance rebounds...Dundas need to score greasy goals, playing power hockey, cycling low and crashing the net..they did, and it paid off in the end...Cam Watson made a beautiful play to pressure the Thunder tender and stuff hos clearing attempt back behind him for the GWG.
Really looking forward to see the big dogs play tomorrow...Bentley vs Dundas and Clarenville vs Kenora.

No offense jimc, I read your posts throughout the year and agree with most everything you say. I love reading them to be frank... But to say the McCoys were outplayed early just isn't right in my opinion. Honestly the first 10 minutes were almost exclusively in the South East...errr Steinbach end. The shots were more than double in favour of the McCoys, maybe even triple for the first 10. In fact even when SE had pressure late in the period their only goal was fluky. The only flurry of shots they sustained at any point in the game was while they were on the powerplay. Dundas ended up outshooting them by 6-7 shots in the first period. Realistically it could have been 3 or 4 to zip end of first. Yes they were a good, quick team but comparatively I thought they were the weakest of the 4 teams that played today. Their goaltender held them in the game from start to finish. Again, no disrespect...just how I saw the game.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the trip to Dundas so I had to follow the scoring on pointstreak. Looked like the Thunder had a bit of a short bench. Also heard that SEPT captain Ryan Bonni was there and dressed but didn't play much, if at all. Can somebody please confirm this. Not at all suggesting these things tilted the game. Full marks to Dundas. Just really curious about SEPT's lineup. And I won't get drawn into a debate but with all due respect they most definitely are not Steinbach.

Being a huge Allen cup hockey fan and a huge SEPT fan I appreciate the posts from the guys sitting and watching. Keep it up guys. Somewhat keeps us who didn't travel in the game.

Steinbach are short a coupe guys, and I dd not see Bonni (16) skate a shift...although he may have.
I agree Dundas outshot the visitors, but I thought the quality chances were in their favour...they were really buzzing, springing a number of dangerous odd-man breaks.
I thought the MB entry looked better than did Brantford or Kenora in game one...jut one game, and perhaps the speed stood out to me more than maybe it mattered in the game, because it was so evident in that short rink, guys are off and away, in on the opposing net so quickly.
Are there likely to be reinforcements on the way for them?

From what I understand Aaron Marvin is unavailable for the week. The additions are Anders Strome and Dustin Hughes. Agreed Marvin would have been a great addition.
