Not saying that past exemplary conduct should change a correct call, but Jay Mckee has barely incurred a penalty since he joined Dundas. I don't even think he had a regular season penalty of any kind and I think one minor penalty in this years league playoffs.
In this case he was chasing after a much smaller puck carrier who was attempting to cycle away from him. Rather than catch up to the smaller player and plaster him into the boards Jay gave his opponent a reaching glove push to the lower back. The glove push caused the opponent to lose his balance and awkwardly hit the boards. This glove push did not appear (at least to me) to be at all mean spirited. I frequenty see tons of such glove reaching contact go unpenalized.
Having said that, this one happened within the vacinity of the corner boards and it is punishable for good reason. You cannot assume that a player will not legitimately lose his balance if you make contact from behind especially where the boards may be invoved. The risk of injury, unintended or not, has been determined as not allowed and the referee uses his discretion as to minor, double minor, or major penalty. Out of game is automatic for chk behind. The designation on the game sheet does occasionally get misposted during the game, but corrected later. If you look at the game sheet now I think you will find that it now shows;
OG Chk Behind 2 (min) Chk Behind
The correct call in my opinion.

If it is a minor penalty for CFB it does carry a game misconduct but since this is a National Championship it falls under the Hockey Canada Guidelines and a minor for CFB is just one game and if that occurred prior to the 10 minute mark of the third then he would be good to go the next game. If it happens 10 minutes or less left in the 3rd he would have to sit one game.

Hamilton Spectator says McKee is playing tonight vs the Generals. Looking forward to our big D against Bentley's big D...

I just saw it too...was expecting more of a hit to get a checking from behind penalty, that was more of a push in the back
