Another battle for Antler Hill.
This is an improved Innisfail team. After being swept last spring & spending much of this season near the cellar of the CHL, they have come on strong in the playoffs.
Sutter has his prized goalie; Steven Stanford, healthy now. He's coming into the series on a 2 game S/O streak.

Nope. Not even close.
AP's have barely even made a ripple in the overall pool of players being used.
Innisfail...under the ever aggressive direction of Brian Sutter...has used the most AP's and we're talking about 1-2 players playing 1-2 games...with regular roster guys sitting out.

It's "Einstein" , Ronnie.
And I'm not saying what Sutter is doing is "right" or that I agree with it. I'm just pointing out he is the only guy in the CHL exhibiting any sort of steady interest in Affiliate Players. To be fair, he's using far fewer than he did last year...but...only because the source where he scooped most of his "farm team" from last year went SR AAA this year.

The Eagles are playing some strange cards (again) this spring.
One of their top scorers from the regular season, Mike Wirll, has quit the team. The team, is either unaware of denying it...but...I have it from a solid source he's pulled the pin. Unhappy that "things he was promised" haven't been followed through on.
And now? Mark Bomersback...another top scorer...wasn't in the lineup for game 2.
Seems as though Sutter has prioritized certain 4rth line roles ahead of even 1rst line roles. The guys getting the most ice time are the ones taking the most PIMS. Regardless of lack of scoring. The Eagles want blood. Not production.
Gens might have to go to a different roster for the upcoming weekend in Innisfail. The Army has Adam Huxley APed & if the Refs aren't going to properly police the series...The Army will need to take extra precautions to protect themselves, IMO.

Sheen fought in the semi-final series vs Fort Sask. It cost him an extra game cuz it was inside 10 mins to go in the game.
In the Finals...we haven't seen a tilt...yet. Pete Vamdermeer is in his 3rd year in the league & has yet to drop the mitts. Obviously it's not fear holding him back. He's a tough guy, for sure. I guess he's just focused on playing his dirty, aggravating and nasty style.
The after-the-whistle stuff got really out of hand a couple times in game 2. Inny had their sticks up at face level almost every scrum. I'd like to see someone get filled in...but...its probably going to be up to the 2 Ref system to figure out who to key on & make the appropriate calls.

Therein lies the problem...leaving it up to the refs to solve always ends the same way...more and more cheap and nasty nonsense until somebody snaps.
I think Huxley is a better cure, personally/
