Was great to see the Dundas arena completely filled last night. There are some seats, as witnessed in the Allan Cup Final last year, that you simply cannot see the whole ice from...thus they remain empty even when there is nowhere to stand. That was the case last night - two deep along much of the railing that surrounds the entire ice surface.
Reminded me of the good old days when the Hornets or Blast would visit Market Street on a Friday night...just as many from Cambridge or Brantford as there were from Dundas.
On that note, I'm hoping many Blast fans will make the trek down Wayne Gretzky way, onto the 403 hwy, and into Dundas to support the ACH against Kenora. Same for the fans of Senior hockey in Cambridge, Stoney Creek, etc. Would love to see a large crowd for all games on the weekend.
Second note - and maybe a thread for after the Allan Cup...but have heard rumours every summer for the last 3 or 4 years about resurrecting senior AAA hockey in Cambridge or even in Kitchener. Arena problems in Galt (conflicts with Cambridge minor hockey) seems to always be the sticking point. Anyone know if there is interest/owner backing for another team in that region for next year?
Having that "triangle" between Brantford, Cambridge and Dundas was fabulous. The atmosphere in all 3 barns was amazing. Add in Stoney Creek recently and the regional rivalries are building..although I haven't witnessed the same fan following in Stoney Creek yet. Takes time to build that base.

Sr Hockey in Cambridge is dead as a doornail,as of today. Cannot say for certain in the future, but there is nothing happening in Hornet Land. Ice Time is the biggest deal...I think maybe Sundays in Hespeler arena was the best ice time they could get. Some talk of Preston Arena, but maybe only weeknights.
