Very surprised...congrats to the Caribous...looks like Dundas could have used Walker, Kuwabara & Rourke. naitch, I would say...of those 3...Rourke would have been the biggest difference maker. I know Dundas has tried and tried to find top defencemen over the years...they had Galway here this year. He's able to make some plays...but...he's never showed the ability to manage an entire game at this level. Ennafatti (sp?) isn't the answer either. Not enough foot speed and...(like a lot of other Dundas guys) his hands are too slow. I know better than anyone how easy it is to sit here and rip a team just hours after they've been eliminated...so...don't get me wrong...I still think Dundas is a helluva' team... But...4 straight tournaments and not even an appearance in the finals...there have got to be some people wondering what other teams have that Dundas doesn't??? And... I think the answer is the aforementioed defence. And I'll go you one better by saying I ALSO know how VERY hard it is to find that top level defenceman. The 2 most recent 'D-Studs" out of Ontario: Shane McCosh in Whitby (2007) he was an AC MVP in helping get the Dunnies to the Final. Jeff Brown (2008) played a huge role for the Blast' Championship. ...Dundas had Sutton in 2008...but Sutty' was all defence. And other than that...Galway is as good as it gets and thats not good enough. Bottom line is....defencemen set up 75% of what happens in a hockey game.

Clarenville top D man Travis Chapman is from Ontario. They fly him in every weekend and other teams are doing this on the island as well. my question is why are these guys coming all the way to the rock when they could play in there back yard ?
There are 6-8 top players making this travel every weekend.

So the fourth straight year for Dundas going to the AC and nothing to show for it AGAIN. Good thing Dundas released committed players at the deadline to sign Walker, Rourke and Kuwabara. Those three really helped you out at this AC, eh don!
You go to a national championship and only have 12 skaters for your round robin games.....that's embarrassing.
Then get into the quarter finals and semi-finals and you still can't get a full squad. With the potential of playing 5 games in 6 days how do you expect to have any sort of success with so few bodies.
So this will be 6 AC appearances in the last 10 years and Dundas lays another egg. I hope you enjoy all those Robertson Cups Don, because it seems thats all your McCoys will ever win!

1-3 in their 4 GP, and not a full bench for ONE of those games. EVERY other team had more than a full compliment of players...and Dundas had to travel a lot less distance than the other 3 non-hockey North entrants.

Hi Jim I don't need to make excuses for DR, he is a big boy and not scared to share his opinion. Just because Kenora is in Ontario that doesn't make it close. Travel was a flight to Winnipeg and then a bus ride back to Kenora. I'm not doing google map to compare Bentley with Dundas distance to Kenora. Just saying its no trip down 403 to Brantford. Yes, DR gambled on Walker and he rolled snake eyes. Like no one else ever blew a card before. The wife reminded me of that all season when I was complaining that I had used all the Tundras cards before the Jan 10 cutdown. We need to remember that other teams(non-Ontario) have the 10 Senior affiliates to rely on so that puts them at 35 cards. In OHA we can add Jr. players if their club says OK. And what might a Jr. player add at this level of play. If he could add something he is playing OHL/CHL. In hindsight, the MLH final probably should have had been planned to end earlier in case it went 7. No disrespect intended to the Norwood organization, they did a great job but I don't think us outsiders would have bet the house on a 7 game series. A rhetorical question..going for the 3rd year as MLH rep and the last 4years..does it take the luster off for some players and maybe you just don't want to use vacation for chasing the CUP and use family time AGAIN. There are also things called jobs and not being able to get time off.
I know that DR didn't want to go to Kenora to lose but they lost in the Semi finals to last year's champions. 1 game away. Like I said in an earlier post Monday and Tuesday really don't count for anything except an extra day off for #1 of Div. and some momentum.
Congratulations to all involved in Major League Hockey. We put on a Great Show for the fans of Senior Hockey this season. Excuse me while I take a bow.
Tom

Tom, every bit of what you say has some truth to it, no question. Truth remains, however, that one club stuck out from the other 5 with a noticeable shortage of players. NO question that had a negative effect. It is a problem not unique to DR, for sure. I remember FAR too many nights when the Hornets would set out for Petrolia on a Friday night with a full bus...but only 9 or 10 of the passengers were actually playing in the game. Hell, GM Matt Beechy had to play a couple times.

Matt Quinn if you a referring to the guy who plays senior in NFLD) actually lives in Nova Scotia and helps coach the Bridgewater Junior A Lumberjacks, i don't think he has lived in Ontario for a while. Still a ways from NS to NFLD though.
