Yes. The Ponoka Stampeders. They had a pretty good run in the Chinook League, as well as some other variations of teams. You'd find a few pics in the Trophy cabinets in the lobby, as well.

Kinda...
All SR teams NOT playing SR AAA are competing at AA level.
Provincial 'AA' tournament is held in late March. The winner of this tournament is crowned 'AA' Champ. The team losing the Champinship game is 'A' Champ and a 'B' Champ emerges from what is essentially a Bronze Medal game.
Tournament qualifying is based on league winners from Albertas' 4 'AA' leagues + a tournament HOST.

any reliable players from that league used as AP's? A few, for sure. Also a few former SR AAA players, now playing 'AA'. But...for the most part...SR AAA teams are self-buoyant.

Wade, Any word if the new East Central League is participating in the provincial playoffs?
I also saw that the two BC teams in the North Peace League are going to play for the Coy Cup (BC Sr AA). Any word on the Alberta teams playing for the Alberta championship this year? I know they have not participated in at least a few years.
I know four teams (a host(Bonnyville) and champs of North Central, Ranchland, and Sask/Alta) has been the norm the last few years; but an Allan Cup format (2-3 team pools) could work on a 4 day schedule if you only have the pool winners meeting in a championship final on the fourth day.

My understanding was that the East Central League kinda came about from some hard feelings & frustration with a lack of parity in the now defunct Battle River League. The top BRHL teams jumped to the NCHL while some others started the ECHL where the aim is on strictly local players & a low key competitive level. As for the Northern League sending teams to Alberta Provincials...Spirit River Rangers unofficially boycotted anytime they won NPHL titles, after 2013, I think. But I wouldn't say the entire NPHL will uphold that boycott. More likely a matter of time before someone else decides they can afford a 3-4 day tourney.
