Just saw on Innisfail's socials that they're hosting the 2025 Allan Cup.
Wonder if that's going to drum up some more interest for Western region teams!
Fingers crossed it brings out some more.

Where were all the fans, only game with a crowd was the Champiomship game ? If Dundas was not in the Champ game, would there still be a crowd ? The hockey was great,,playoffs did not help.

All tournaments are like that. Home team or home country gets larger crowds. Watch the Mens World championship next week. Or any World Junior tournament. If in Canada and Latvia is playing Austria, how many fans will be there? Very few It was same here in Dundas. When Southern Shore plays Innisfail, there weren't as many in the seats as the Dundas games.

Now continuing on that:
1) Yes promotion could have been better. Advertise all season. Issue was they couldn't. The tournament and participants (or lack thereof) was not finalized until new year.
2) Stoney Creek does not have a good fan base like Dundas. They did not bring in the crowds like say Cambridge or Brantford did for road games.
Next year should be much better attended. Tournament is already announced. Innisfail has 12 full months to advertise and put bums in seats.
I guarantee when it comes back to Ontario in 3-4 years, and Senior hockey is on better footing the crowds will be better

I have spoken to a few guys I know personally on the 3 remaining teams in Ontario ACH. If their team won right to go... All but one said they would not go to Alberta unless the team completely footed the bill for them. 3 guys said they are not willing to do fundraising, as that was "minor hockey" activity. 2 guys said they were not willing to use up work vacation days that is better used by for their families. One guy has a new baby and said being away for a week during their kid's first years is a non starter.
Just an informal response of a few players.

Fundraising just has to happen in order to make this event happen for any team. Innisfail did it through a bunch of pub nights and events and South Shore did a raffle for an ATV. I’m sure Dundas had a committee seperate from the team that raised funds for the event and I’m sure Stony Creek raised some funds just to cover minor expenses.

I agree that some sort of fundraising is necessary. I was just passing on some informal research of my own.
Dundas relies heavily on local volunteers and has history of support. So, they are kind of a know brainer. Tigers are very focused on sponsorship of jerseys etc, in lieu of pay to play, so guys can promote their own business ventures. I don't know too much about their ownership group but heard they lost money this season. Gryphin owner probably has the most financial resources but likes to have the guys spend money in his bar too. LOL. I heard lots of negative stuff around them internally, so I find them a question mark in terms of the way they do things mainly due to how they handled letting go a player before their inaugural season. It was not nice and very visible on social media. Had they been awarded Allan Cup for next season, I would have questioned why/how.
I hope Alberta is not an obstacle for Ontario teams to consider, but knowing the hockey climate here, I think it would be an obstacle just based on the guys I talk to and know.

Would have killed Sr at this level, especially out west, had it gone east 3 years in a row. My hope is this announcement a week ago gets more teams involved from Western Canada, and can create a competitive atmosphere again. Not that Stony vs Innisfail wasn’t, this year certainly showed it’s there still. Just needs more participation and teams to make that step up, which out west we know there is quite a few that are capable.

Definitely not abnormal for a few players to not attend. That happened 10 years ago, 20 years ago as well.
Next year will be no different. There will be work commitments and/or family commitments.
But I have talked to Executives from all 3 teams. And have no doubt that whomever wins from the 3 current teams will travel to Alberta.
Interesting side note - rumours are that the winner of the Ontario Elite AA winner could playoff against the winner of the ACH AAA for Ontario championship. I can see it happening, however with the player restrictions associated at the AA level, I do not see how any AA team could compete.
Either way, good things finally happening in Senior hockey. And, agree that the Cup going West is essential to re-grow Senior AAA hockey in the West.
Hearing (although these rumours are more "hope") that Sask and Manitoba will have a few teams declare AAA. And am almost certain that Powell River BC will declare.
Lets start a new thread for AAA teams declaring
