Theres been a seemingly inordinate amount of injury and roster issues plaguing all 4 SR AAA teams in Alberta this winter. For whatever reason....its rare to see a full 20 man roster and I don't know if I have seen a game all season where two 20 man rosters have faced off.
The Army finally got back up to capacity in game 3.
Stonyburgh was not as fortunate. The Eagles were promised some help via their affiliate team but it all fell apart at the last minute. Leaving them with yet another short bench.
It would be a long stretch for a healthy Stony squad to out-score these 2011 Gens, so, a 12-15 man line-up is never going to have much of a chance.
I actually feel a bit bad for some of the Eagles vets. They are working very hard to keep these games reasonably close and its just no a fair fight.
That being said...I can't help but wonder if Stony management isn't second guessing their decision to affiliate with Drayton Valley.
Don't get me wrong...DV has a couple of solid players...but....not one affiliate has played a game for the Eagles all season.
And the kicker....Stony struggled against Innisfail's 'AA' team throughout the CHL regular season. So, now the Innisfail Eagles are sitting with no games for over a month ahead of AA Provincials when they COULD be getting the call to fill in with Stony....if only Stony had chosen them as their affiliate.
Hindsight is 20-20 I suppose. But I just thought the experienced vision of the Stony Plain Eagles would be sharp enough to see it as well.
