JUST FINISHED A QUICK LOOK AT THE NSHL WEBSITE. CHECKING THE STANDINGS I NOTICED THAT THE CARIBOU ARE IN 3RD PLACE IN STANDINGS. DOESNT SEEM RIGHT THAT A TEAM THAT APPEARS TO BE DOMINATING THE LEAGUE WITH A 15-1 RECORD SO FAR DOESNT GET TO MAKE THE ALLAN CUP WHILE HOT. (NOT IN 2013 ANYWAYS!) IVE READ LOTS ABOUT NFLD RULES OR LACK THEREOF ON HERE BUT IM STILL NOT SURE HOW IT ALL WORKS. HATE TO REHASH BUT.... CAN THEY PICK UP SOME OF THE GUYS FROM GFW FOR THIS YEARS ALLAN CUP? OR DO THEY SHOW UP WITH THEIR 3RD PLACE TEAM AS IS? WITH THE OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY LOOKING LIKE THEY WILL HAVE VERY VERY STRONG TEAMS THIS YEAR ITS TOO BAD NFLDS BEST MAY NOT BE THERE?

Technically, they could pick up GFW guys as AP's.
They (along with everyone else in Canada) will need to have no more than 9 AP's delegated by the 10th of this month.

Unfortunately though for us, it is a situation created within our own province with the existence of the (WOAA) senior outlaw league in South Western Ontario, who are not recognized or do not wish to be recognized, what ever the case, and therefore no Senior 'AA' teams for 'AAA' teams to affiliate with. Perhaps sad...........but still true.

Hopefully this can be the last year where any affiliation provision is used.
There is a better formula to use for roster structure which would be the same for everyone in Canada.

I can not understand why Ontario AAA teams can not AP with players from outside the province. This can be done, although, these players may not be eligible for league and provincial play-downs, they could play at the AC if they were needed.

17-1 after this weekend now. they aren't dominating the league really a lot of close games and their goalie is putting up an mvp type season. they're finding ways to win every game

well as wade said they could technically add gfw guys as aps. they added a few good (best) guys off various nshl teams for the run. i guess nfld could be added to the favorites list now?

IT WOULD BE INTERESTING IF ANY PROVINCE FROM ONTARIO AND WEST WAS ALLOWED TO HAVE THEIR SPOT IN THE ALLAN CUP GAURANTEED THE YEAR BEFORE, THEN ASSEMBLE AN ALLSTAR GROUP NEXT YEAR AND COMPETE FOR THE CUP.
NFLDS ADVANTAGES BECOMING TOO OBVIOUS!?!?!
GFW IS HOT AND SHOULD BE THERE THIS YEAR. JUST STUPID THAT THEY ARENT.

I really, really, really wish that there was some sort of a level playing field for all Senior AAA teams.

Ive tried to discuss this matter on the Newfoundland Hockey Talk forum. To almost no avail.
A summary of sentiments....
....They don't really care what anyone's gripes are in regards to Allan Cup rules. They just want to see a team from Newfoundland compete. Theyve got enough to gripe about in their own league....
....They need these rules to be in place because they don't have enough time between league playoffs and the start of the Allan Cup and the completion of Herder Cup.....
It was also suggested that other branches have the exact same rule in place and therefore its all the same for everyone!
I could go on.
If anyone is really interested the thread can be tracked down Im sure.
Some of these gems are coming not from fans but from exectutives on the Clarenville team. Thats scary.

I know it is frustrating for fans on this site to see what is going on in NFL but until Hockey Canada steps in and mandates some sort of yearly play-down for an a NFL rep nothing is going to change. Even if HC did force a play-down I think the island would drop out of the AC because there is too much money to be made to cut their schedule back. I agree with other posts on this site about having a Senior Committee that could help set up rules of play for the AC.
